(BEFORE READING, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I WILL BE FINISHING FNAF 2, I AM OBLIGATED TO BECAUSE OF THE CHARITY CAMPAIGNS I INCORPORATED INTO IT)
I've talked a bit on other social media spaces (and in a hidden area in the first game) about how FNAF rewritten isn't super important to me. I always assumed since the start that I probably would never finish the series, and I think its finally time to let go.
Why?
The over-arching story of FNAF rewritten has a general message that is important to me. In the current way the story is, it isn't really clear until you learn everything in fnaf 6 because I didn't want to stray too far from the original fnaf story (a mistake). Telling a story about this subject has been my only motivation for continuing with this project, especially since it works so well as a story about animatronic creation. But recently I have been working out a way to recycle this premise and make an original story out of it. I even have ways to use mechanics that I had planned for FNAF 3 and SisterLocation rewritten for this new project. It wouldn't be a FNAF game, but it would obviously take heavy inspiration.
I will most likely stop with FNAF games after my FNAF 2 rewritten releases. Sometime down the line, I will develop a single original game that I will put a ton of effort into. It will tell a story that is better at achieving the goals I wanted my fnaf story to achieve, and it won't have to tell it over the course of 6 whole games lol.
So what will happen with what remains of FNAF Rewritten?
Once I finish with FNAF 2 (WHICH I WILL FINISH) I will release documents about everything I had planned for future games that never got made, outlining all of the story and gameplay decisions I made. It would be cool to see other fan game devs use it for inspiration. and if I can get it to work, I might release the outdated version of FNAF 3 Rewritten that is shown in the trailers for people to play around in :)
Don't worry, FNaF Rewritten '87 is still releasing. But I recommend looking through this if you are looking forward to future games.
