I’m a total Video Gaming Geek, I have a bunch of stuff ranging from old to new gen, imagine a large room filled with Past & Future stuff, that’s basically my basement you're picturing.

Call me a Weirdo all you want, but I’m not here to talk about my odd hobbies. You see, I’m here to talk about an awful experience that, as of writing this, only happened a few hours ago.

I was chilling in my Room, scrolling on Facebook (sense I had a day off of Work), but then I heard my doorbell ring, I was surprised and thought it was the Roomba I ordered, but when I went to check, there was only a small package with a Letter attached to it.

I brought the package in and took the note off, realizing it was from my friend Kyle, and let me tell you, I WISHED I listened, this is what it said.

“Thomas

I can't take it anymore, ever since I got that disk, things have been going to shit. I’ve been having these weird and crazy dreams, and I’ve been having a Migraine.

If I ever feel free from what that thing is, I hear this Ear-Bleeding screech, something you’d hear from a car.

If you're reading this, please destroy the game, burn it, whack it with a sledge hammer, ANYTHING to destroy it.

That thing is after me, and if you don’t do anything, it may come for you next, so please, destroy the game at all costs, please…

When I first read this, I was like, “what the fuck?” Kyle may be my best friend (and my only friend), but I didn’t really believe, for the simple reason that Kyle was quite the Prankster.

One time, he made me laugh my ass off during a School presentation about Water, and then when we had a sleepover at my house once, he screamed that the House was on fire, which made me fall out of my bed and break my arm (you have no idea how long it took to fix it).

Though, I was confused on why Kyle would write this on paper, and not send like an Email or smth, heck, I even tried calling him, only for the Voice Mail thing to appear meaning his phone was dead.

Anyway, I looked at the Package and saw it was a CD-R disk, black with the title “SONIC.EXE” burned on to it, it wasn’t like Kyle’s handwriting so I assumed he got this from Amazon or a Swapmeet.

I was curious about the game, sense I am a big Sonic geek and, well… It had the title “SONIC” on it.

So I took out the disk and booted up my Windows 7 (aka my old College computer), inserted the disk in, and downloaded the file, which felt like hours.

Once the game finally installed, I immediately checked my Computer, only to freeze just as my Mouse was close to the file.

The file’s name was simply “SONIC” and the Icon was even weirder, simply being a Red X with a white backdrop, I froze for a moment before saying in my mind “Fuck it” and opened the game.

The game appeared to be a port of Sonic 1, which I was pretty disappointed due to owning nearly every release of the first entry of one of the best Video game series of all time, still, I pressed enter.

but I swear the title switched for a second, but I wasn’t really sure until a file appeared after I finished titled “I See You”.

The image had two glowing red dots where Sonic’s eyes would be, staring right at me, with the only normal thing being his Hand still in the same position as always

Boy does that image still give me the creeps…

After that… oddity, the screen cut to black for a few seconds, before it changed into something that made me question this entire game.

At this point, I realized that I was playing a hack

I mean, if it wasn’t obvious already, but it was still surprising, mostly because I didn’t expect Robotnik, or anyone other than Sonic to be a playable character.

Not only that, but, other than Tails, the characters had locks on their Icon, which if it wasn’t obvious enough, didn’t allow me to use them.

And the music? That was the creepiest part, it sounded unnatural, especially sense it was in the Sega Genesis Soundchip (or a similar style).

Either way, and despite being creepied out, I proceeded and chose Tails.

When I did, the game froze, I thought it had soft locked, before the screen cut to black with an odd, distorted laugh playing, reminding me of Kefka’s Laugh almost.

After a awhile, the title card appeared, simply saying “Hill”

Once the screen faded, Tails appeared in Green Hill Zone, although it was completely flat, and there was an odd, creepy, reversed melody playing in the background. It honestly reminded me of a song my mother used to play.

I continued and pressed right to move, nothing really happened for a while (at least a good couple of seconds), that was until I noticed something, I stopped immediately to see what it was…

Two of the Critters you’d usually save, dead. And that wasn’t the end of it.

As I continued, there were more and more of them, some were dropped dead, some were hanging from their own guts, and some were mutilated beyond recognition.

I felt like I was gonna throw up, despite it just being a game and they were just pixels, but as I did before, I proceeded onward.

As I went, the Trees became more spread out and more dead critters appeared, until it stopped, not as in the game stopped, just that there were no more Trees or Critters, and the music stopped, which kinda made me nervous.

Then, I saw him.

Sonic was just standing there, and Tails froze.

I didn’t know what the heck was going on, then suddenly, Tails moved to the right on his own, like he was trying to get away from Sonic.

I don’t know what came to me, but I forced Tails to get closer to Sonic.

As I did, an odd, almost Static like sound played in the background, and before I even thought about “Why am I doing this?” Sonic poked his up in an instant.

Suddenly, within an instant, the screen cut to black and text appeared saying “Hello, do you want to play with me?”

The text vanished and a title card appeared saying “Hide & Seek”.

The level theme itself appeared to be Angel Island from Sonic 3, specifically the Burning theme.

There appeared to be debris of dark brick pillars (or smth), and Tails was scared, I also noticed his name changed: Alan.

Tails was pointing to the right signifying I should start moving, so I did.

After a few seconds of running, Tails stopped, and the Time Over text appeared, but instead of me dying, Tails was still staying, scared.

Then the text changed, saying “Ready or Not”, then “Here I Come” with Sonic appearing shaking his head violently.

All of a sudden, Tails began running, from SONIC, Sonic was literally floating from the ground in a similar way to Metal does in Sonic CD as he CHASED Tails.

I immediately slammed on the right arrow key, hoping to be fast enough to get away from what was pretending to be Sonic.

But in the end, Tails couldn't make it, and was tripped by “Sonic”.

Then, “Sonic” appeared right in front of Tails and snapped his neck, the screen immediately cut to black, but I could hear the sound of Tails (as I could assume) choking on his own blood.

Text appeared once more saying “Aw… Too Slow, Want to Try Again?”

I was confused, did Tails- no, Alan just… die? I asked myself what just happened, but my biggest question yet was “The tf was Alan?!”

I had so many questions, but before I could even think of any answers, the data select reappeared, and something on it made my stomach drop…

Knuckles was unlocked, but Tails… wasn’t so lucky, his originally orange fur was now a burnt dark fur, with blood coming out from various parts of his head, and his head appeared to be nearly ripped off from his body.

I was thinking about just closing the game, but once again something in me told me to continue, so I selected Knuckles, and once more that Kefka-like laugh played, I was already getting annoyed by that.

Knuckles’ stage was called “You Can’t Run”, the theme appeared to be dark, but the occasional lighting revealed it to be Scrap Brain.

There wasn’t much going on, I was simply going right, but on one occasion, the lighting revealed the ground to be bloody.

And I swear on one occasion I saw “Sonic” floating above Knuckles.

I then had a thought “what if I go left?” and so I did, I went left… and well, I got a result.

I fell into a bottomless pit, and the Game began to glitch out.

Suddenly, I was taken to a level called “000000”, which was a dark version of Scrap Brain Zone, then (from what I can assume), Sonic began talking to me.

“Thinking outside the box I see? You delight me, new friend. But soon my world will be your home.”

Suddenly, text saying “Found You” appeared, and I was then talking to what I presume to be a boss fight.

“Sonic” was covered in a static effect, and Knuckles was in his Fighting Pose, Knuckles’ name also changed to Dave.

I made Knuckles attack at “Sonic”, but Sonic just went to the other side.

This happened several more times until Knuckles got tired, beginning to fall to his knees.

Then “Sonic” kicked the poor guy, knocking him down.

Suddenly, “Sonic” appeared, raised his arms, and plunged them into Knuckles’ chest. The screen (much like with Tails) then cuts to black.

I could hear bones breaking, and Knuckles gasping, before a distorted scream (which I could only assume to be Dave’s) played before cutting.

Text then appeared once again, this time saying “So Many Souls, So Little Time, Wouldn’t you Agree?”

At this point, I was beginning to even wonder why would Kyle send me this, could he have not destroyed the game himself? The screen cut to the title once more, and I almost puked.

Knuckles’ left eye looked like it was being pushed out, and the background was completely pitch black.

At this point, I decided to stop playing and close the game, and went to bed (the only smart decision I made today)… and boy do I kinda regret that.

Ever had those dreams where you remember everything that happened? I wished I didn’t, but I did.

I was under a lamp hung above my head, and was in an empty void, everything around me was dark. I walked around for a while, until I started hearing the voices of Alan and Dave, yelling for my help. “HELP ME TOM” “WHY DO YOU LET US DIE” “NOT AGAIN, NOT AGAIN”, the screaming kept going and going, giving me a headache.

But then… it all stopped, and suddenly, I couldn’t move, I was panicking, but then I saw something, a figure flickering in and out in various directions.

It was a ghostly figure, made up of a similar static effect that “Sonic” had while against Knuckles, as he walked, he started talking.

“You humans interest me, it’s incredible that despite the fact you're the most intelligent beings out there, you're dumb enough to fall for a CD-R Disk. You're not the only one, Alan, Dave, Paul, and Kyle have all fallen for it, and soon, you will be next, to join our happy little family, Thomas Woodland Miller.”

Then, IT disappeared, I thought I was safe, but then, Sonic appeared being hung by chains and mutilated, “NO MORE STALLING TOM” the body yelled, that sight instantly made me wake up.

I was breathing heavily, but also questioning “what did he mean by no more stalling?”.

Then, I heard my computer turn on, and a message appeared.

“Continue?”

I went to close it, but it wouldn’t let me, I tried clicking No, it wouldn’t work, I went to my Task Manager, but couldn’t click anything else, the only thing I could do was click yes.

“Welcome Back”

The game instantly went to the data select, the music was more distorted than before, and there was one character left, Dr. Robotnik.

I clicked on the Eggman and just like always, that damn laugh played.

The level was simply titled “...” which I found oddly creepy, and the background looked nothing like I’ve seen before, but it did remind be of Marble Zone

There were also curtains as a foreground lay, and the floor had a checkerboard pattern.

The music sounded like the one from Hill, but in a Piano-mix, and it sounded oddly sad.

I persisted and continued, there wasn’t much, it was most flat.

After a while of walking, there was a staircase going down, but once I went down, the background, the once purple brick wall, was now more reddish, and the fire turned blue.

I kept going, and again there were staircases, and once more the background got distorted, the fire went out and the background dimmed.

I had been walking for about two minutes at this point, thinking there was no end, but then, “Sonic” appeared right in front of Robotnik.

I couldn’t move, Robotnik had a shocked face, then, “Sonic’s” mouth contorted, opening up in an unnatural, impossible way.

The screen cut to red static for a short while before showing “GAME OVER”, with blood tinted on it.

Then, the screen went to static, and then, the date selected.

all three victims, Alan, Dave, and Paul, all dead.

The screen filled with static once more, then, two red dots appeared, shaking violently, then, they stopped, and then a bit-crushed image of “Sonic” appeared, having a slightly deformed Muzzle.

Then, after another god damn static effect, the image became Photorealistic, which honestly scared me.

I asked “what are you”, and as if it heard me, it started writing something with blood on my screen.

“I AM GOD”

Then that god damn laugh played, slower than before.

Suddenly, the thing lunged at me, causing my PC to turn off while cracking the screen, though the bloody written “I AM GOD” remained.

I was shocked by all that just happened, everything that happened in one damn day…

I tried calling Kyle, over, and over, and over again, until suddenly, he answered.

“KYLE! IS THAT YOU? WHAT HAPPENED!?” but no response, I heard heavy breathing, but still no response.

But then, I heard something, a voice, “Try to keep this interesting for me Thomas”, it sounded nearly like Kyle’s, but there was a deep, raspy voice behind it.

A few hours passed by, and suddenly, my computer turned back on, and while the screen was cracked, it still worked perfectly fine.

Then, the disk slot finally opened, revealing the disk once more.

I took the thing out and instantly broke it in half.

I started to think, think about all the others who've played, Alan, Dave, Paul, and probably even Kyle.

I spent the following minutes thinking about it, and wondering if I was next.

Because as far as I know, even if I had destroyed that disk, it could still be out there, somewhere.

He could still be out there…
