Previously…

As Mario and Jr rest up while Luigi stayed awake…Bowser watching…and Kamek doing research to find an exit…it’s only a matter of time…before they lose it..

And now…the continuation of chapter 11: “Broken promises”

Luigi kept a close eye on his brother since he doesn’t trust him being alone anymore he just sat there tired but awake…Bowser is asleep due of no rest at all…and Kamek passed out on the ground sleeping. As Luigi was about to go to sleep…Mario suddenly woken up and sat up slowly. Luigi looked surprised and confused..then he slowly tapped his shoulder jolting him by surprise.

Mario: “Oh! Mama mia-! O-oh…i-it’s just you Luigi…hehe…” *He said in a bit of shock but laughed it off*

Luigi: “A-ah…sorry…bro..I uhm…just wanna know why your awake…” *He nervously exclaimed*

Mario: “Mm…..hungry….and a bit thirsty…I uhm…was about to get something myself….” *He said tiredly but still awake*

Luigi: “Oh…uhm…..want me to get it for you?…” *He asked politely*

Mario: “That’s very sweet of you Luigi…but I can get it mysel— a-ah?!…*He winced at the sudden sharp pain in his body* a-ah….nnnh….o-o-on s-second thought…u-uhm…y-yes please….” *He held his left ribcage inhaling the sudden pain*

Luigi: *He sighed* “Okay bro…stay here…” *He said calmly while getting something*

Mario: *He stayed put while taking the inhaler to ease the pain a bit* “Mm…been a while since I’ve felt this kind of pain…heh…” *He said in disappointment*

Luigi: *Walked back to Mario with a plate of food and some water* “Mm….at least it’s not head pain bro…hehe…”  *He said jokingly*

Mario: *He gasped ‘dramatically’* “Luigi! I am so offended haven’t you’ve known my head hurts too??” *He said while giggling a bit and taking the plate to eat*

Luigi: *He laughs* “Well my apologies bro I had no idea! Hehe” *He jokingly replied*

Mario: *He giggled a little while eating then shook his head* “..”

Luigi looked uncomfortable and turned his head away…he looked scared of something catching Mario’s attention.

Mario: “Bro..? Are you okay?…You look bothered of something…” *He asked with concern*

Luigi: “Huh?- O-Oh…sorry…I thought I’d heard something nearby…” *He replied anxiously*

Mario: *He sighed and pat his shoulder* “Your..on edge aren’t you bro..?” *He said in a sad tone*

Luigi: “…yeah…” *He answered*

Mario: “Luigi… *He places one hand near his face with his other hand on his shoulder* you don’t have to worry this much…I’ve told you before…I’ll be okay…in a dire situation no…but…I’m still here…aren’t I?..” *He said calmly and with a bit of confidence in his voice*

Luigi: “Mm…I…I know bro…b-but I….I just…worry…I can’t help it…” *He said with worryingly*

Mario: *He yawns* “…Well…why not rest right next to me if it helps you calm down…” *He offered tiredly as he sets the plate away*

Luigi: “Okay..” *He responded*

As the bros went to sleep, all four of them had a feeling of worry…Luigi had a hard time sleeping due of having nightmares of Mario dying in front of him, getting tortured in unspeakable ways, crushed, etc…he woke up panicking and breathing rapidly in fear. He looks over to Mario sound asleep and oddly smiling, Luigi sighed and went back to sleep.

[A few hours passed]

Mario woke up hearing thumps of…loud footsteps..? He gets up to investigate, only to be greeted by a unreasonable..Yoshi-like monster that look like a failed experiment and seeks out prey…little Mario knew he was ambushed. Luigi’s detector went off and immediately went to assist Mario, as he tried to help his brother out…Mario was already being held hostage in the grasp of this monstrosity, luckily he knew what to do and burned off the creature’s hand causing it to drop Mario, Luigi catches him and sets him down. Bowser, Kamek, and Jr all heard those loud thumps. The three didn’t hesitate to fight back and defend themselves. As Luigi fought off the creatures…Mario looked around trying to figure out where they’re coming from…little did he knew..a GINORMOUS and hideous beast of a piranha plant snatches up Mario from out the shadows causing him to scream by surprise and pain, Luigi let his guard down and got badly wounded by a deformed Shy Guy that’s unnaturally tall. Mario cried for help as he couldn’t hold onto a wall from getting taken away that easily but his grip isn’t strong enough, and got pulled away. As all hope was lost for him Bowser grabbed onto him and stood his ground trying to free Mario by force, but this plant’s strength is more stronger than Bowser’s. As Mario shed a tear he wanted Bowser to do something for him before he let’s go. ‘Please protect him…for me…leave me…I’ll be okay..I promise…’ he said in a soft tone before letting go of Bowser’s hands and getting dragged into the darkness. With the other creatures gone Bowser went to Luigi to check if he’s okay. He checked for a pulse and he’s still alive..

Bowser: *He sighed* “Just unconscious…” *He mumbled to himself*

Kamek: *He rushed to Bowser with Jr* “Lord Bowser!..Are you alright? Did something happen?” *He asked in a panic*

Bowser: “I’m fine..but for now…go find Mario…he went that way…” *He points at the direction where’d Mario went*

Kamek: “Right away sir…” *He said as he sets Jr down next to Bowser and goes to find Mario*

Bowser carried Luigi and sets him down in critical condition. Jr approaches him scared and upset.

Jr: “Will he be okay…?” *He asked*

Bowser: “I hope so…but for now…let him rest…”

Jr: “Okay…” *He replied*

Luigi: *He wakes up tiredly coughing violently* “…uuuhghhh………”

Bowser: *He sets his hand lightly on his head* “Rest…now..” *He demanded*

Luigi: *He resist* “B…bu— *cough!* *uff uff* M…Ma..ri…o…..” *He said wincing in pain*

Jr: *He hugged his robotic arm* “Please…rest…” *He said in a worried tone*

Luigi: “I… *He looked hesitant at first but he can’t move as much from his injuries* okay…” *He said in a upset voice*

Bowser: *He sighed* “I’ll catch up with Kamek…you and Jr stay…don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone…” *He said in a demanding serious tone*

Luigi: “Okay…be careful…” *He responded*

As Bowser left the duo, he went to find Kamek and Mario, it didn’t took him long to find Kamek horrified and shaking of what he is witnessing..Bowser looked confused then look what Kamek sees. He too is stunned to witness..Mario fighting for his life from being eaten alive by this abomination of a plant. He couldn’t hold the mouth open for very long, as the mouth of this creature closes Mario’s hand lit with purplish flames and punched it open trying to buy himself enough time to escape. He jumps out of the mouth only to get snatched by the vines tightly unable to move. Bowser snapped out of it and went to burn this plant to oblivion. The plant itself made a ear piercing screech from Bowser’s flame as it slams Mario to the ground and slammed him to the wall. Mario coughed out blood and tries to stand up, only for him to get grabbed by the leg from the piranha plant creature’s vines and lifted Mario from the ground and now he’s upside down. Kamek tries to assist Mario while Bowser was busy burning this abomination. The plant squeezes Mario tighter and tighter then throws him like a toy at the ground once more, Kamek immediately went and aid Mario before he hit the ground. Kamek retreats with Mario and Bowser follows.

[Meanwhile with Luigi and Jr]

Luigi: *He sighed with worry* “I hope they’re okay…I hope Mario is okay…” *He said worryingly*

Jr: *He sighs then sees their arrival* “Look! Here they come!” *He said happily*

Luigi: “Eh?-“ *He looks where Jr’s pointing at*

As the trio arrived Kamek sets Mario down on a bed while trying to cure his wounds. Bowser is still in shock but also concerned not very concerned though. Luigi got up to check on Mario what he saw broke him. Mario’s injuries were too severe all Mario could do now is see and hear. He can still breathe..but he has limited mobility..he couldn’t hold back any tears from the pain he is in..traumatized, bruised, beaten, and now has a broken left foot. Mario looks at Luigi attempting to reach for him only for him to injure his entire left arm..he winced from the pain and put his arm down. Luigi looked devastated, broken, and sadness…he couldn’t bear to lose Mario and shoved Kamek away so he can help his brother. Kamek looked angry then shook his head.

Luigi: “Please…stay awake…stay with me bro…I can’t lose you…..” *He said tearfully as he cries his eyes out*

Mario: [In his mind: ‘I wish I can say something to you brother…I’ll be okay…please don’t cry…’] *He slowly move his hand to hold Luigi’s hand*

Luigi: “M-Mario….please……stay with me……please…….” *He said devastatingly holding his hand*

Mario: *He looks at Kamek then Bowser…then back at Luigi oddly smiling..?* “L….u…i..gi…?” *He called in a weaken voice*

Luigi: “Y-yes?…w-what is it bro..?” *He said still upsettingly*

Mario: “I….do..n..t…..kn…ow…if……*uff* *uff* if…I’ll…li..ve….b….bu….t…..I…I….wan…na…..s-sa…y….s-som…e….th….*uff* thi……ng…….” *He weakly said trying to stay awake or alive as long as possible*

Luigi: “Don’t say that!…Please bro!…stay with me..!” *He continued to cry while holding his hand*

Mario: “Shh……shh…….d…do…n…t….worry…….I’m….al…wa…ys….here…..Lu…i…gi…y..yo…ur…n-nu…m…b..er..1..n..now….li…tt…le bro…..” *His last final words before passing out or even worse…dying…*

Luigi: *He’s speechless as his brother’s hand collapses from his* “M…Ma…Mario?…..Bro..?” *He questioned tearfully*

Mario: “………” *No answer*

Luigi: “N…no…..nonononono…Mario!..Wake up!….You can’t do this to me!…Please!….” *He attempts to wake Mario up but to no avail*

Bowser: *He growls at Kamek* “THIS IS TAKING FOREVER! FIX HIM!” *He demanded*

Kamek: “I-I’m trying!” *He exclaimed*

As Kamek tries and tries to bring him back almost nothing worked to revive Mario. All hope was almost lost…until Kamek remembered he carried extras in case of any dire situations and slowly fed Mario a 1-up mushroom. Silence filled the room until Mario opened his eyes..and sat up with less injuries except his broken left foot. Luigi burst into tears and hugs his brother tightly..Mario sighs and hugged him back.

Mario: *He giggled a little bit and pat his back* “I…I’m sorry Luigi….I didn’t mean to frighten you…” *He said in a calm voice*

Luigi: “Please…don’t ever do that again…” *He said in a scared tone*

Mario: “I promise….now..we’ve waited in this room long enough…it’s time we find a way out..” *He said with confidence*

Bowser: “He’s right…we’ve made no progress so far and just been sitting here…” *He said with little annoyance*

Kamek: *He patches up Mario’s broken foot and casted it so it’ll heal faster* “You’ll need to be carried Mario..you cannot walk…” *He said with caution*

Mario: “Ah…right…uhm…I..don’t mind..? But it’s a little humiliating to be carried…” *He said nervously as he turned his head away*

Bowser: “C’mere you.” *He lifts Mario without a thought in the world*

Mario: “WAH?!— Bowserrrrrrr don’t do that!…uuuughhhhhh……” *He groaned with annoyance and a little bit of anger*

Bowser: *He laughs* “Oh hush it shortie..”

Mario: “…Hmph!…” *He turned his head away angrily*

Bowser rolled his eyes and carried Mario and Jr then walked out, with Luigi and Kamek following from behind. All three are on high alert of Mario and Jr, Luigi couldn’t shake the feeling they’re being watched…Bowser is extra cautious…and Kamek is more paranoid than usual.

[12 hours later]

It’s been nearly almost 13 hours since they’ve walked trying to find a way out but no luck so far…so they decided to rest for a bit..while Mario wants to do something he climbed down and removed the cast and bandages noticing it’s all healed up and he can walk again. He was about to explore solo but then looks at Luigi standing behind him..Mario turned around and looks at his brother. Luigi looked at Mario with worry in his eyes..Mario sighed and holds his hands. Luigi held his brother tightly into a hug not wanting him to go alone. Luigi lets Mario go then holds his hand still paranoid. Mario sighed then held his hand and walked.

Mario: “Luigi…I understand your scared…but you don’t have to hold my hand…I’m not a child and you know it.” *He said with small annoyance*

Luigi: *He sighed* “I…I know….I just…I just….care about your safety bro….you’ve been injured worse than me…” *He said cautiously*

Mario: “Mm….fine fine…you ca—“ *He interrupt himself from bumping into something*

Luigi: *He looked up and looked crazy scared* “MAMA MIAAA!!” *He cried fearfully*

Mario: “Hm-? Wha…— MAMA MIA! WHAT IS THAT?!” *He screamed in horror*

As Mario and Luigi ran for their lives they’re being chased by a bunch of deformed faces of Boos their entire body is nothing but shadow but only their mouth and eyes are visible. Luigi ran for his life, and Mario is a little behind tripping or falling over but manages to get up and flee for his life. As they fled Luigi detected something above them and kept running, Mario is unaware what’s above them but kept running for dear life, then out of nowhere a deformed Koopa snatches Luigi causing him to trip and fall, while Mario keeps running dodging the Boos as long as he can then grabs Luigi by the arm and kept moving. As Mario ran with Luigi they’ve gotten lost and now were ambushed by multiple abominations surrounding them. As it seems it was over for the duo an idea struck from Mario…but although risky..

Mario: “Luigi! Jump! I have an idea…!” *He said confidently*

Luigi: “Mario are you insane?! Where can I jump to?!” *He exclaimed in a panic*

Mario: “Just do it! It’ll be worth the risk little bro..j…just trust me on this…!” *He demanded*

Luigi: “I hope you know what your doing…” *He said as he jumps as high as he can*

Mario: *He exhales and jumps then swings Luigi far from the ambush but not too far. As he lands he was immediately attacked*

Luigi: “MARIO!” *He screamed trying to help him*

Mario: “N-no! Go! NOW!…*uhn!* GO NOW! I cannot hold them off for long!…” *He demanded while getting hurt but still standing*

Luigi: “Mario…hold on brother…” *He dashes off finding either Bowser or Kamek*

As Mario tries to defend himself by these abominations he was overwhelmed by how many there are. He screamed in pain but also enraged as he punched the ground creating a circle of fire burning them to a crisp till nothing was left..He collapses from exhaustion panting from all his energy being drained. Luigi later came back with Bowser finding Mario tired and worn out. As Mario gets up he can’t keep his balance from how exhausted he is…Luigi and Bowser helps him walk and keep him balanced. Mario looks at Luigi tired but happy as well..as things got settled down…the bros and Bowser sat back down resting, although Mario was still awake. Luigi noticed and held him close.

Mario: “Huh-?…O-oh…mm… *He sighed and leans his head on his chest* th..thank you…for trusting me this time bro…..”

Luigi: *He nods then passed out from tiredness*

Mario: *He giggled a little bit* “Sleep well bro…” *He said tiredly as he yawns and went to sleep*

As they all went to sleep they’ve still had one goal ahead is to find a way out and survive at least they still have each other…they still have challenges ahead and must have to face..
