Can you believe it guys? We're in Underevent!

We've been working a ton on the project, and have been super stoked to share some of our progress.

[SPOILERS FOR THE TRAILER BELOW! Watch it if you somehow haven't already.]

First, the bad news...

If you've seen the trailer, then you no doubt know Happstablook: the showstopping poltergeist! As cool as he was, we came to the conclusion that he is simply too awesome for the Demo.

We've done a complete rewrite of his character, and that means basically everything you saw in the trailer relating to Happstablook (minus his actual character) is now scrapped.

We made a ton of assets and music for this sequence, so I should show a little bit of what we had!

In one part of the trailer, you see The Human riding a motorbike with Happstablook brandishing a machine gun. This was supposed to be a part of the Demo, but due to pacing reasons, we ended up scrapping it.

We originally had an entire new area scripted out, but it never really fit. It was known as "Happsta-Theatre", and was supposed to appear before reaching Asgore's house. However, similarly to before, we cut it due to the pacing just not working.

Suffice to say that despite that, "Happsta-Theatre" will probably return in the future, but not in the same way. We have bigger plans for Happstablook going forward, and hope that in the future we do not make this same mistake.

We do apologize.

So what about the music?

Well, with the exception of two tracks, the entire Demo OST is complete! For spoiler reasons, we will not show them all here quite yet, but for now, a handful are available on Soundcloud!

We also have organized all of the scrapped tracks into a neat little playlist! Hopefully it doesn't need to be updated again in the future, haha...

Going over battles (briefly)

The trailer highlights these three enemies: Ribood, Vipyro, and Seez! While these aren't all of the random enemies you can encounter in Old Home, these are the only ones that I will be showcasing!

I've modified my cutscene engine to work in battles as well! It allows me to enable animation states, music triggers, etc., etc., without any drawbacks! Expect more animated/interactable Act options going forward!

I've been relentlessly attempting to balance the attacks for each enemy, and I've gotten to the point where I mostly automated it! This'll make it much easier making new enemies going forward.

In conclusion...

The game has gotten a ton of progress! Sad that most of it cannot be shown because of spoiler reasons, but I believe that you guys will appreciate the restraint!

As for the next devlog, we might have one more between now and the demo release. We aren't that far from completion, and we hope to release the demo around the first anniversary of the project!
