First of all, thanks to everyone who has played the game and been nice enough to leave me a comment or two.
Oh, and to the kind people who submitted bug reports. It turns out there are two rather fun bugs in the game that I was not able to fix in time for release:
You can get the black rod as many times as you want, as long as you put it down in the door panel before getting it again. Obviously, you’re only supposed to get it once.
You can apparently walk straight through the laser nets and the closed cave door, provided you maneouver the character somewhat precisely around the barriers. This is apparently due to some bug with “walkable areas” that are supposed to be turned off but, for some reason, aren’t. I had the same problem in the previous game I did. Me and walkable areas are not friends.
As you’re playing the game, just pretend these aren’t there. ;)
Anyway, none of those are nearly as game-breaking as what’s already been known as that damn red rod.
You’re supposed to get three rods: red, green and black. The latter two are pretty easy, but the red rod seems to elude people a lot.
So, if you’re stuck on that particular little scavenger hunt, let me help you out.
First of all, this game pulls some Moebius: Empire Rising shit on you and won’t actually let you do this unless the protagonist knows that he needs it. So you have to look at the door panel first.
Second, the red rod is not in the cave. It’s actually outside the cave.
In the most obvious place.
In the place where you found another object.
There’s another hint in the game if you try to use the fishing rod in the door panel holes (thanks, Joe Mastroianni!) — the key word is “buried” …
You ready? I’m about to totally spoil this for you.
… it’s in the exact same place as where you found the pickaxe. That’s why the pickaxe was there. Spunky hid the red rod in the ice.
