The creature that resides in Level 5 is known as "the Beast of Level 5". It is a tall creature with a human-like body and a cephalopod-like head. It is thought to be hostile and possess a cuttlefish-like ability similiar to camouflage to blend in.

Description

the Beast of Level 5 is something only mentioned by those who have lost all sanity while trapped on Level 5. It appears to be hostile but is not shown to attack on sight, instead slowly toying with their victims until they have an existential crisis, then seemingly always die before that day is done. It has been described as a tall and scaly creature wearing a suit and tie, as well as having humanoid body with the head of a cephalopod, with tentacles around its mouth. Those who are reaching the end of their sanity claim it has camouflage abilities, and if you look closely and pay attention, you can see his glowing eyes watching you from the wallpaper pattern. Some people doubt it exists, calling it off as just being an illusion of this floor's cobwebs, flickering lights, and ornaments.

Prior, the victim reported a recurring nightmare wherein they met the same fate, and the Beast of Level 5 was watching.

People believe that the Beast of Level 5 uses the fifth floor as a web of sorts, carefully filling it with furniture and items to make it easier for him to camouflage and stalk his prey. This is evident in the amount of items on this floor that almost look like they have eyes. These include the numerous statues, paintings, busts, carpet and even wallpaper patterns. Some believe the Beast of Level 5 is somehow connected to Death Moths as they also have the eye pattern it does.

A recent theory states that the Beast of Level 5 was once a human man from sometime around the 1920s, explaining Level 5's furnishings and the creature’s outfit. They no-clipped on Halloween while wearing a squid mask and somehow merged with it in the process of falling into the backrooms. the theory also states he has resorted to killing people or driving them insane on this floor to keep himself entertained. Not much else is known about the entity; the people who survive encountering him often either refuse to talk about it, or recount stories so surreal that easily half of it could be a hallucination.

Behavior

the Beast of Level 5, while appearing to be hostile, doesn't attack his victims on sight. Instead, he toys his victims by constantly bothering it to the point of them losing sleep and going completely insane. After doing so, it sometimes outright murders them. A theory suggests that he does this just to keep himself entertained.

Discovery

It's impossible to be certain about when the Beast of Level 5 was first encountered, as the person who encountered it first could've turned into an Insanity or be killed long before it could've been documented. Although the first documented discovery happened way back into the 1990s, when a man that went by the name of Oscar, who had questionable sanity when he reported being stared down by the wallpaper patterns to the M.E.G. Obviously, they didn't take Oscar seriously as it could've been a wide variety of things. But they then started to take it seriously and question whether or not it could actually exist after more and more reports of the entity had very similar descriptions.
