I have to get something off my chest

A while back, I got the news that my friend died of an epileptic seizure, it made the next two weeks miserable, and even after, I still feel miserable losing a friend I’ve had since Second Grade.

His brother gifted me his Blue Flash Drive me and my friend used to share, and that honestly made me miss him even more. I decided to play the games he’d download for us as a way to honor him, but one game caught my attention

We were huge Sonic fans, and while I never really grew up with the games, I was a big fan of the Cartoons, he’d often bring the flash drive to share any Sonic related thing.

Though this game seemed off, when I tried opening it, an error message popped up saying that it didn’t exist, I ended up having to fix the name in order for it to work.

The first thing I saw when opening the game was a loading bar that only lasted a few seconds. After that, the title screen of the first Sonic game appeared, though “SEGA 1991” now said something in a weird language, and 2007.

I appeared in Green Hill Act 1, and the game itself appeared to be a Ground up recreation of Sonic 1.

Later in the level, I ran straight into buzz bomber, but when I lost my rings, I noted that their texture was black, I presumed it was a glitch and finished the level.

The next level was… weird, like not weird, like weirdly weird. The title card was garbled text, and the level itself was odd.

It looked like Green Hill, but with a Black Sky and red dirt, I tried pressing the esc key and ALT F4, but nothing worked.

I then just decided to continue on, and the level was just flat, but then, I got to a Leafless Palm tree next to a cliff, and Sonic stopped, and I thought the game had soft locked.

Suddenly, the screen went to black, and Sonic slowly appeared, he opened his eyes and his arm appeared, then a number ten appeared, the continuous theme started playing as the timer began counting down.

R.I.P began appearing on the screen as the timer counted down, and Sonic’s eyes began going bloodshot.

And when it hit zero, nothing, Sonic’s eyes were just red… then, Sonic began shaking, and his eyes began popping out, there was also a sound that made me think Sonic was in pain.

I instantly hid under my table as soon as this started, and then, I heard a gunshot-like sound and a loud ass scream played.

After a few minutes, the screaming stopped, and when I checked, Sonic was lying flat with his eyes looking like they just popped, while the game over theme played.

I closed the application, grabbed the flash drive out, and started crushing it, until it was nearly unrecognizable.

I was wondering what the actual hell just happened, in my mind I said “This… this shit killed my friend?” I didn’t know how to react, I tried to do some research, and I could only find one source simply titled “Deadly Sonic Game, DO NOT PLAY!!”.

when I read it, I found out it was a troll game… I don’t know how to feel about this anymore, a Troll game meant to kill people… wtf?

I think I need some time off.
