The Cancelled Huge 2nd Anniversary Update


Considering on how this was planned back in December of 2020, but things started getting in the way such as other project work, Uni work and the sheer thought of letting the series rest, I cancelled it.

But that doesn't mean I should keep hiding it from you all, might as well say what this update would have been and how it would have worked.

It would be turned into a fully fledged game

So starting off with the biggest part of the update, adding all 5 nights instead of the one. Removing a... certain concerning minigame and having different minigames after each night would occur, a bit like how Jollibee's would've played out.

With dialogue between the player and Chris, or to himself over each night.

The changing of the mechanics.

So the mechanics was going to be a big step up for me, taking the current existing mechanics but expanding on them to make them feel more advanced, allow me to list out what they would've been:

  • The Speakers: Instead of only triggering the speakers in Mac's stage area, you could play different speaker in different rooms that would continuously play in that room once you triggered it. So you have to manually turn it off and use it to lead characters like Mac. Leaving the speaker playing for too long while a character is in the same room would end up in that character breaking the speaker, leaving it unusable until you've troubleshooted them.

  • The Ventilation: Instead of the one room where HamBurglar would enter the vent, there would be vents scattered around the building. In which the player would have a different tab on their monitor which is a Motion Sensor, detecting HamBurglar's movements in whichever vent he entered, you have have to manually turn up the heat in whichever part he's in to stop him from progressing forward. Leaving the heater on for too long would eventually end up in it breaking like the speaker, making it unusable only for a certain amount of time.

  • The Window: Would just end up being the same

  • Grimace: Same as the first remaster.

More Characters?!

Originally, 2nd Anniversary was going to become the "Mac Tonight Ultimate Custom Night" of the series, and in the update reveal trailer was going to have a "Smash Bros" like reveal at the end which would reveal Birdie as the next enemy which was going to be in the game. Along side with:

  • Mayor McCheese

  • Uncle o' Grimacey (a skin for Grimace)

  • Skins from other games for the existing characters; Classic Designs, Halloween Designs, other game designs.

Visual Changing

So the game was planned to be visually changed (again.), making the office very much different, a little bit inspired off Ramen's "Eddie's and the Misfits" way he did the office.

Instead of getting a view of both the door and the monitor, you would have to fully 90 degrees to the right to view the door, then turn back to the computer in front of you on the desk, in which the way the computer was planned to be designed is the screen wouldn't take up the whole screen, still seeing most of the office. And the userface would have different tabs like Troubleshooting for the speakers and vents heating, Motion Sensor for the vents, and Cams.

As well instead of the usual audio aspect to know when someone is at the door, there'd be long but thin window in the middle of the door which characters would peak through, making you keep on your guard.

Mac Tonight: Grimace Birthday Shake Special

This is kind of an out the blue post and quite off topic from the things I usually do. But I made a Sonic Frontiers mod featuring Blaze the Cat considering people never really see her in any games nowadays.

Tempted to do a render of Grimace with the Grimace shake, if I were to do that does anyone have like a texture of the cup for me to put a mesh, or offer to make one? I'll give credit where need be of course! Plugin 'n all
