(note: the spoiler talk will be brief and nonspecific. still though! go play/watch the game if you haven't!)

Sorry it's been a while! Been busy with this year's undertale anniversary animation and dealing with some personal family problems.

I beat DR after 7 hours after release. Since then, I've been thinking a lot. I was ready to cancel this game today, to be honest. What Toby's done is just amazing... he's really improved and has made this beautiful, fantastic series of games that has made me laugh and cry so many times. With the news of Deltarune being 7 chapters, I have no doubt it's going to completely destroy me.

I don't think Angel's will be as good as anything he can make. I'm still very new to game making and programing. But I make stories, and I feel I still have to make this game for the story's sake. Angel's is so deeply personal and meaningful for me. Even if it's not what I wish it to be, I still have to make it. I have to, I'm determined.

The deltarune release also almost killed this project for another reason.

Deltarune introduced some new lore and considering sans said 2 years, I can not get this full game out before the next Deltarune release. I do not want try chasing canon lore and keep it up to date only for it to be uncanonized before it's released. Lore and world-building mean everything to me as an Undertale theorist and fangame creator. I have always wanted this game to be canon adjacent.

But as I wrote the devlog to cancel this game and explain the story I realized... as much as I love the lore, it's not the heart of the game. Writing out my summary, all I could think was "I wish I could see this vision come true. I wish I made this." and so. Now I am.

Sorry to be such a downer or someone who's wishy washy about this. I have to stay true to my heart and to my story, I am compelled to finish this no matter what gets in my way.

I'm going to massively change the story and canon of this game.

I'm going to pull what Deltarune did to Undertale.

As Toby Fox put it:

I want to lean away from making this a direct prequel. It's not canon and never will be. I need to embrace this. The story will still tell the same conflict -the human monster war. But the world, magic, and logic will not be the same. Things will be still be-

but they will not be in how you expect.

There will be [big] changes.

I want it to be as creative and exciting as DR chapter 2. I want it to be original and fun and inventive and to be my story more than anything else.
