Once upon a time, there lived a demigod.
He had lived deep in a cave, never seeing the day or night.
He did not care, as he spent his days resting.
One day, the demigod woke up, and in his tired state,
Wandered outside of the cave, into the night.
When the demigod came to his senses, he looked up at the shimmering moon.
He was enamoured by their beauty, wishing to see it over and over again.
And so, each night, the demigod woke up from his slumber to gaze at the moons beauty.
After a while, the demigod began to wish he could be at the moons side.
He had fallen in love with it.
But unfortunately, the moon was far too high up for him to reach.
In a desperate attempt to try and reach the moon, the demigod went to a small trickster entity, who claimed they could help him.
“What, what am I supposed to do?” the demigod cried to the trickster.
“Plague the moon with dreams,” it spoke.
“It will grab their attention, then they will bring themselves to the ground to find the source.”
And so, the demigod did that.
It gave the moon dreams, countless dreams,
Ones of eerie comfort and safety.
And yet, the moon never came down.
They were scared of what the visions could mean,
And the stars did not help their worry.
“It could be dangerous to go down,” they said.
“You could be attacked for your beauty.”
And so, the moon never came down, to the demigods dismay.
The demigod wept and wept.
He slinked back into his cave, and never came out.
His tears flooded the caves, creating rivers and lakes within its confines.
But perhaps, one day, the moon would finally come down,
And the two would meet,
And fall in love.
