The first Oscar & Stewart prototype and lil info

Lake got the idea for the two musician friends when he was still a student and he just liked to come up with funny situations with them in his head and draw them randomly. Lake was a very lonely guy and he didn't have any close people around, so this at least somehow brightened up his routine.

In 1956, he got a job in Tomochii and then an idea came into Lake's head, which he presented to his superiors:

Oscar and the Stewart were a large animatronic stage and were like puppets, controlled by a big mechanism hidden at the bottom of the stage. They had no legs and despite the wheels that were attached to the stage, it did not improve the situation for more convenient movement.

And the stage was very huge and heavy. 230 cm in height and weighing about 60 kg.

For Lake, it became the project of his life. And despite his idea being approved, Lake assembled and programmed everything alone.. Only Alice (who was already living with her brother in Motreal at the time) painted the stage and the animatronics.

In March 1958, Oscar and Stewart debuted as a musical attraction in a small cafe and any visitor could see them. And they worked for only two years, until 1960. Due to rather problematic equipment and the previously mentioned bulkiness.

This is a fairly short chapter, but quite important. Believe me, there's more to come...

Edit: These two were classmates besties at the time, Oscar was 18 and Stewart was 17. This doesn't seem like it matters much, but I'll write about it.
