So the Kickstarter was a huge success. Thank you to all who pledged money, I’m definitely going to try and make a game you’ll love!
This last week has been a weird cycle of rest->restless->working on game->fatigue->rest etc. but I’m back into the swing of things.
I’ve kinda been working on small things in hour-long rotations. I find it’s a good way to avoid burnout, which is important after something big and stressful (like a kickstarter).
I’ve been working on several backgrounds for Act II of desert child, and have banged out a few new music tracks that could make it into the game. I’ve also completely redesigned the the the HUD works, but I’m not quite ready to show it yet.
Other than that, I’ve been re-coding a bunch of systems in the game to make them more universal. By this I mean I went back over a lot of old code that I really just did for the demo, and made it into something that’s correctly laid out and annotated. Things like the camera system for the hub sections of the game, which is obviously something that’s going to be quite important in the final game.
Here’s some pics I’ve been working on, nothing to exciting yet, but hopefully the start of something grand! I’m also starting to really define a more universal colour palette for the game, whereas before I was just changing from scene to scene.

This is one idea I’ve done for the game’s soundtrack. Not sure I’ve it’s super great, but it was fun to make regardless.
Stay tuned, tomorrow I’ll be doing part 3 of the World of Desert Child!
