I don't know how to explain this, but I'll do my best.
Part 1:
My name is James Cerda. I'm 12 years old and I'm currently busy with a lot of life things. Growing up, I had a lot of great shows in my childhood. However, I had these four characters who I always thought of as my icon: The Teletubbies, the cute, colorful, and soft creatures.
Yes, I am a big Teletubbies fan much like everyone else who grew up watching the show and collecting the merchandise. I had a big collection of DVDs, though I mainly watch episodes of the show through uploads on YouTube. However, I don't think I want to watch anymore scary bootleg DVDs after the experience that I had...
It all started one night when I was at my friend Jeremy's house babysitting his little sisters Katie and Julie. Jeremy was at a party and I had promised him that I would look after the two girls until their mother came home. I told the two girls that they could sleep in the living room and I would put a movie on for them, so I went through the DVD shelf looking for a movie. But since the girls were both only 8 years old, I didn't want to put on anything that would be too unsuitable for them.
I was still looking for a damn movie for the girls when I noticed at the very back of the shelf, there was a Teletubbies DVD and it was the 1997 special "Here Come The Teletubbies". I remembered watching that episode when I was 4 and I found it to be quite entertaining back then, even though nowadays I would call it below average.
I got a bit excited when I saw the DVD since I am a big fan of Teletubbies, so I decided to choose this for the girls. But when I showed them the DVD, they didn't want to watch it. Being the sceptic I was, I asked them why and one of the girls responded with:
"If we were to watch that, HE would find us."
That sentence creeped me out. "Who would find you?" I asked. But neither of them responded. I decided to brush it off and just let them pick a movie on Netflix instead, but for the rest of the night the thought haunted me: Who was HE?
It spooked me so much and I was so sceptical about it that after when my friend got home, I decided to steal the DVD and find out what was on that disc.
I came home and went into my room. My mother had fallen asleep while watching TV, so I decided to watch the episode when she wasn't awake. I put the DVD into my PlayStation 3 (Yes, I still have one) and it loaded up with the normal menu from the "Here Come The Teletubbies" DVD. When I pressed play, the movie started, but everything wasn't right.
It started with the opening scene from the first season, but the screen was all glitchy and very low quality, there were no credits, the music was playing backwards, and the screen would occasionaly cut to static for a split second. What the hell? What's the classic opening doing at the start of a DHX Media movie? I thought to myself. After the opening scene ended, the screen stayed static for 5 seconds, and then the actual episode started. Or at least, what was supposed to be the episode.
Some of the Teletubbies were in the tubby house but they all looked sad and nervous, the colors were more dull, the lighting was darker, the sky was crimson red, but it still had that same look as the costumes.
The only Teletubbies seen on screen were Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po, But Tinky Winky was nowhere to be seen.
The camera was slowly panning across their faces for a minute and a half with no audio other than faint static. Dipsy The Green Teletubby seemed to be having a conservation with The Narrator, and the narrator asked if he was ready. Dipsy started crying and said that he 'didn't want to do it'. The Narrator sadly said:
"We have no choice..."
Dipsy just quietly went out of the tubby house and continued down the hills of tubbyland. There was a montage of him going along the main line from the first season of the show and soon he reached a dark tunnel, but it wasn't like a normal tunnel. As he slowly went into it, everything went black.
After that nothing happened. It was just completely black for the next 5 minutes until the credits appeared, looking completely normal. The video ended and went back to the main menu. I took out the disc and put it back in the case but something wasn't right.
When I first inserted the disc, it looked like a blank DVD. But when I ejected it, there was a message written on it in a black marker:
You stole my life.
I was a little creeped out by this, but I just assumed it was some type of dumb bootleg made by a troll that wanted to try and scare people, so I just left it on my bedside table and went to sleep.
That night, I started to have a very weird dream that I was actually a teletubby going down the same tracks Dipsy did and I reached the same tunnel from the DVD. Dipsy's face was lying on the ground outside of the tunnel with bits of blood and guts. There were also faces for the other characters such as Laa-Laa, and Po.
Suddenly, the teletubby in my dream went into the tunnel and I was in pitch black darkness, though I had little light given off by a flashlight I held in my hand. I could hear the cries of Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po nearby. They were saying stuff like, "Help us..." and "Why did you give us to him?" and "Run away, before he gets you too..."
Their cries died out as I then heard Tinky Winky... it sounded a lot like his own voice form the old series. The more he talked, the more demonic his voice got.
"You're a lot fun to play with kid, just like the others, though they didn't last long..."
I was scared and looking around for the source of the voice...
"Won't be long now until you join me and all my other siblings..."
I saw him running toward me, as the flashlight I held in my hand began flickering.
"You can't run, kid. You're in my world now. Just like the others..."
When he came right up to me, I saw his grinning face with bleeding pitch black and red pupiled eyes. And then I woke up with a fright. I was terrified, covered in sweat. I had no idea what that dream was, but I just got some water and went back to bed with my Teletubbies stuffed animals for comfort.
The next day, I was getting ready to go to Jeremy's House the next morning. I was packing my stuff when I remembered that I fwatched that demented episode the other night since I got distracted by the DVD. So I opened up one of my books to write something down and there, I got a shock.
Nearly all the pages in the book were ripped out. The only page that was there was a giant T in scribbles. I checked the rest of my books. They were all the same. All the pages were ripped out, except for one with a giant T on it.
I decided to fake an illness so I could stay home and watch the movie a second time to try and find secrets I didn't notice on the first viewing. I didn't really find anything secret. It was just the same movie I watched last night. But when I got to the part where Dipsy went into the tunnel, I could hear something. Voices.
I turned up the volume on my TV. I could hear the voices of Tinky Winky and Diosy. They sounded like they were having a conversation. Tinky Winky was talking about disturbing incidents such as global warming, suicide, animal abuse, and all that sort of stuff. Dipsy was begging Tinky Winky to stop, and Tinky Winky did. After a few seconds, Tinky Winky responded with: "You stole my life, I steal it back."
Dipsy screamed loudly as a demonic laugh was heard along with scraping skin and flesh being ripped off before all going quiet. The DVD glitched out and the 'DISC ERROR' message appeared on my TV. I tried to take it out and put it back in, but the disc would just refuse to play. I then suddenly got a phone call. Thinking it was my mother since she was at work, I placed the disc on the table and answered the phone. When I said "Hello?" a voice on the other end said:
"I know you're listening, James Cerda."
That was MY name. And the worst part was that it sounded EXACTLY like Tinky Winky.
I picked up the phone and tried to respond to him. "Who are you? What do you want from me!?" I said. To my horror, he responded. "I knew you would be dumb enough to find my movie and watch it. Now it's too late. I'm already in your house."
I turned around and what I saw made me scream. There, right behind me, was a floating Tinky Winky spirit as big as my head smiling with bloodstains under its eyes, which were pitch black with glowing red pupils.
I dropped my phone and grabbed the DVD, it, put it back in the case, rushed out of the house with it with Tinky Winky chasing me and threw it in the rubbish bin outside my house. The garbage truck arrived just at that very moment and I never saw the DVD again. I turned around and saw the Tinky Winky spirit slowly disappear while saying "This isn't... over... yet!"
I never had any issues after that. My life just went back to normal and I was no longer haunted by "Evil Tinky Winky". So I believe that this DVD is some type of curse. And the more I look back at it now, I feel that if I had kept the DVD for longer I probably would have risked my life to whatever was on the other end.
That Tinky Winky was not the same purple teletubby from my childhood. He was a monster. An evil, sadistic, all-powerful, nightmarish, demented monster. And all of his victims, including Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po, are just his little toys, and the episode is the very gateway into his chaotic, nightmarish world and the very Hell his victims are trapped in.
Tinky Winky is the very embodiment of evil, he tortures people who watch his episode in more ways than one and then when he gets bored he drags you into the video, literally drags you to Hell, where he can play with you always, as his toy.
I was smart enough to get the DVD out of my house, but I just wish I had destroyed the disc while I had the chance, because I know the DVD is still out there. And whoever is the next person unfortunate enough to get their hands on that disc is going to be cursed.
Thank you for reading my story. I felt that I just had to get the message out now.
-James Cerda
Part 2:
It was a while after my 12st birthday (2021),I opened my presents and one of the things I got was a DVD. It was painted white with red dots on it,at first It was weird, but then I thought It wasn't so bad. So I put it in the PlayStation 3.
It began with the Teletubbies intro,It played like normal. The title was called,"Slaughter",but It was something else.
The episode begins with a shot of the teletubbies' house,Then static started scrolling across the screen, and faint static started to drown out the music. After five minutes of seeing the same image,I went to turn the TV off. But before I could even touch the remote,A loud scream erupted out of the episode. The scream sounded like Tinky Winky. In fact,It was Tinky Winky.
Then It cut to Tinky Winky in his slendytubbies form (from the horror game "Slendytubbies"). His eyes were pitch black, Just pitch black. Tinky Winky then walked closer to the camera and then screamed again. The camera turned around to reveal a dead corpse of Dipsy, His legs were gone. His face was cut off, His skeleton was showing. His ribs were cut up into pieces. His eyeballs were hanging out and his head was torn off. Po popped out of nowhere and picked up Dipsy's severed head.
Then,Po let out an ear piercing ringing sound. It was so freaking loud.
Tinky Winky then ran up to Po, Po tried to stop him. But she failed and Tinky Winky slit her throat open. Her neck exploded with blood. Blood was everywhere.
Now Tinky Winky was going NUTS, he was running around, at one point he got close to the camera and the duration time on the bottom began to show completely random timestamps. The contrast turned dark. Tinky Winky's eyes turned red with blood coming out of them.
Tinky Winky then smiled at the screen and said in a demonic voice,"I am coming for you next...".
The Disc popped out of the PlayStation 3.
I was scared for my life, and I didn't know what to do. I e-mailed Anne Wood about the episode. And I reported the police about the tape. They were no help, though. So,I was REALLY on my own.
Tonight, before I went to bed,I thought I saw Panda in his primal form, reaching out to get me.
If you find a copy of this, let me know.
Part 3:
It has been thirteen days since I saw the DVD of the episode I watched.
At least that's what I thought.
I found a DVD in the mail this morning,The Words,"TELETUBBIES.WMV" were written on the DVD. I went inside and put it in my PlaySation 3. My PlayStation 3 broke because of the DVD I watched, but It got fixed,So I wondered how much this thing was going to fuck up the PlayStation 3.
It began with the Cartoon Network logo from 2007. Which was weird,I thought this was a DHX Media company, not Cartoon Network,The Teletubbies intro began to play, but It was slowed down and reversed. I speedily grabbed the remote and turned the Volume all the way down to 5%. So Mom wouldn't hear.
The episode had no title. I thought this was like the pilot episode or something, but It wasn't.
The episode began with Tinky Winky in the woods pinning Po's head to a tree. He actually had a hammer and a box of nails in his hand. His eyes were pink and after he was done nailing,a split second video clip appeared of a real-life dog getting run over by a car,Blood splattered everywhere and his organs were on the ground. Then It went back to the episode.
Tinky Winky was still nailing Po's head to a tree when the camera zooms out on her face and We see Dipsy lying on the ground as the same corpse from the last DVD. But this time,It was rotten and It looked realistic.
The episode ended.
Why would Anne Wood do this? I thought.
I smashed the DVD into bits. "Great". I thought. Apparently this DVD fucked up the PlayStation 3 twice as bad,and my Dad had to fix it again.
Part 4:
I woke up this morning,I was super tired. I didn't want to go back to sleep, though.
I heard an extremely loud knock at the door,I went to the front door and opened it.
It was another DVD. I slammed the door shut. The knocking started up again. But this time It was SUPER loud,I faintly heard my Mom yell,"James, Go answer the door!"
I opened the door again,It was the same DVD.
I just grabbed it and took it inside, since I didn't want to hear that knocking again.
This DVD was mysterious, I just put it in my new PlayStation 3. (We had to buy a new PlayStation 3 for $40.00 because My Dad couldn't fix the old one.)
It began with Dipsy's rotten corpse from the last tape, but It was even more rotten and It looked like it was made in CGI.
Then We See Laa-Laa The Yellow Teletubby, hanging on a noose inside the teletubby house.
Then we see Po in the teletubby house, she was dead. She was shoved under her bed and her head was gone, I looked out the teletubbies' house window, I saw her head from the previous DVD. Her head was still nailed to the tree, but It was now rotten.
Then Tinky Winky appeared in front of the camera in his slendytubbies form, his eyes were blood red. He said,"I am still after you."
The DVD ended.
I broke the DVD Into pieces with a machete.
After that,I started to wonder how all the DVDs I saw connected together.
I guess I'll have to find out.
Part 5:
I found a DVD under my bed,It had some writing on it that said,"TELETUBBIES666.AVI".
I put it in my PlayStation 3.
It began with the Teletubbies intro, but it was slowed down.
The title was,"The final episode".
It began with Tinky Winky in the tubby house, a rope was tied to the ceiling. A chair was underneath the rope, Tinky Winky stood on the chair. He bought the rope around his neck.
He kicked the chair and he died.
Then the rope broke, and it fell. But It was too late, Tinky Winky was dead.
The episode faded to black.
I ejected the DVD and I smashed it into bits. In my shock and fear.
I was scared.
Part 6 (This Isn't Over Yet):
It has been a long time since those DVDs terrorized me. I was in my bathroom this morning. Just using the toilet.
When I began to walk out of my room, that same demonic evil purple teletubby grabbed me by the collar.
It was Tinky Winky.
He tried to kill me.
I kicked him in the stomach. He fell to the ground. I ran out of my house, called a taxi, and it zoomed away, and I never looked back.
Part 7 (The real ending):
Well,I moved out of my house,I packed all my things and went straight to a different apartment without telling anyone.
I guess if you find those DVDs, Don't Just watch them, lor you'll end up in the same situation as me.
Part 8 (One more finding):
It's been like two days, but I've decided to come back to this mystery. I was a nerd, so I converted the only available tape footage to .wav audio files and run them through spectograms, and well, I found something interesting.
I converted the audio file of Po's "scream" when she picks up Dipsy's head, and I ran that through a spectogram, and the image I got in result, was THIS:
The filename of the audio file of the scream itself is also interesting. It's name is 'YOUSTOLEMYLIFE033197'.
The number '033197' itself is probably referencing March 31, 1997. (The day that Teletubbies aired its first episode on TV)
hopefully I can find more soon.
Part 9 (Once Again, It Happened):
Hey There... It's Been A While Since I Saw These DVDs.
I Found Another Teletubbies Bootleg DVD Writen In Blue And Red Sharpies.
Intrigued, I played the video before any of the others I received in the Job lot. The video starts with the Teletubbies intro, But in a unsettling way. The colors were pretty much dark, the characters looked totally red, The Teletubbies hds red colors, They're Legs were black, And they're eyes were also black. In some parts of the intro, The Teletubbies' eyes were changed to blue. The grass is totally black, The clouds was also dark, The Theme from the episodes also sounded more dark. The PBS KIDS japan logo was also in the DVD, Except the PBS KIDS Title in the splat is Really missing. The theme's audio was also pretty much low.
After the intro ended, The episode title card came. The title card seemed off. It could read ":666". I just had no idea why the title card was like this. However, The music seemed normal. The episode started with Tinky Winky walking outside. The way he walked sounded like he was depressed. The scene got transitioned to the teletubbies' house. It cut to the teletubbies' beds. For some reason, The beds were red and black. Very little sound is present in this scene of the teletubbies snoring.
The scene once again transitioned to Tinky Winky in a blue and black background. This time, Tinky Winky was totally black. I couldn't see his eyes, mouth, or nose. Except his legs wearing his shoes, Alongside the objects that I guess they were in the place Tinky Winky was. I didn't know if it was outside the tubby house, Or if it was the inside. I just kept watching the episode. Immediately following this, An japenese text appeared in the top of the screen. Even worse than this is that a beeping sound was also present when this came up.
After a few seconds, Tinky Winky holds a axe, or maybe a knife. Scarier than this is that an sound of an axe, Or an knife also played. I wasn't sure if it was a axe or an knife due to the bad quality the tape had. But it really seemed like it. A few seconds after this, The screen got transitioned to another japenese text, In red, On a white background. It could read as "さらばだ". I tried translating the text, And the result was "Farewell." After this, I kinda got some context in my mind. The farewell text could have meant Tinky Winky has killed himself. Other than that, This screen was only for a few seconds, As the static transitioned to black for a few seconds.
When the credits showed up, The colors were pretty much dark I couldn't even see the text. The rag doll pictures screen showed up. This time, It wasn't that dark, As I could read the "United States Pictures inc." text on the screen. On the main copyright screen, That used to show in every ending of a classic season Teletubbies episode, Things seemed to be different this time. The copyright notice wasn't present, And the nickelodeon logo was in red color, And the rag doll text was missing this time. The screen went to black and the tape ended with a mouthless Tinky Winky.
Part 10 (Final Part):
I was half-expecting the tape to take a more lighthearted approach. I was wrong. My original theory regarding the bootleg was that it was not meant as a actual episode, but was a test episode. I assumed that the scary scenes, not suitable for a children's cartoon, were likely added simply because the video would never go public, so they didn't have to worry about things being too scary. For around almost pretty much years, I haven't touched this tape again, Until now it’s time to see Tinky Winky blink.
