There's several meanings for the name Dean, but today I'm just going to focus on two. The hebrew and the Christian meaning. In hebrew, Dean means "law" "justice" or "verdict". Law has been associated with Dean (the character) since his teaser. (With contrite meaning guilt or guilty). I think " verdict " is the most important definition in hebrew for Dean. Maybe him being named after a verdict means we'll have to personally decide if he is "guilty" or not. Aka if what he does is justifiable.

In the Christian meaning, "Dean" means to hold a high status in a place of religion. Most commonly a church. In the game Dean is shown to be the only one who actually works on the animatronics, and doesn't just test them. Something that would give him a somewhat high status. The entire company can't survive if Dean isn't there to fix the animatronics when they break down.

He is of high company status. Or maybe he's of high status to the animatronics themselves. In the tape with Dean working on tony, he doesn't attack. He just sits and watches. And Dean isn't nervous. Despite being mere inches away from a murder machine. Jerry is far behind Dean and several feet away from tony. It's clear that he doesn't want to get too close. But Dean? Dean is completely fine getting up close and personal with the animatronics. Even being completely fine with turning away from tony.

Why? Because the animatronics don't want to kill him specifically. Why they don't I'm not sure of yet, but I'm certain they want to spare Dean. Maybe he's working with them? Or maybe it's just because he's the only one who can fix them.
