Part 1: Happy Valentine's Day!

Welcome back to the monthly C.E.R.E.A.L. Newsletter, where I talk about my game, Sunky the Game: Cerealized.

As I am typing this, it is 9:17 PM, and the only reason I labeled it as 2.13.26 to 2.14.26 is because I only made the title image yesterday (13th). Most of you know that there is actually a very surprising detail throughout the month. Let me explain.

Today is Feb 14th, 2026. Also known as Valentine's Day. A holiday where people are frolicking about, enjoying life with their loved ones.

and then there's me, who is single, as always.

But just yesterday, the complete OPPOSITE of joy and love came...

The day of Friday the 13th. A day that everybody fears due to a horror movie first made in 1980, then remade in 2006.

Then, I realized, that's a weird coincidence. Then, I ALSO realized, there's more. Since it's a February, there will be 28 days (regularly). There are 7 days in a week, and 28/7 is 4. So that means there are 4 of each day.

But that always happens. But also, this particular February, started on a Sunday. The first day of the week. Which therefore makes this point of time a perfect month!

Cool, right? This February is a perfect rectangle!

But there's currently been a massive drop in my online status. There's a reason for that.

Part 2: Read the text in the image below.

If you took the time to read the text above, the explanation for this is because three days ago, I started getting sick.

Two days ago, it got worse, and just ONE day ago, I had established a fever.

Luckily, I'm feeling better, but I still haven't recovered fully.

Yeah. That's the whole section I wanted to talk to you about.

Anyways, let's look at the whole "phases" thing again, but with something different about it...

Part 3: The NEW Phases of Perfection

Looks awesome. But why are Proto, Sprites, and Tiles looking like stop lights? Well, that's because there's a key (or legend) for this.

Prototyping is already done, and we are working on tile-sets now, so why is Sprites not green? Well, I created a schedule for myself, where at the start of Feb 10th, I decided to start on tiles. Sadly, I didn't make all the sprites, but I did make some more. To explain more...

Part 4: Lemme break it down for ya'.

Several days ago, I made the sprites for Sunky's walking animation and shared it on Game-Jolt. This was said post:

Then, I made the sprites for Sunky's turning animation, but I never showed this to the public until now:

The reason it's not as long as the walking animation is because I was able to put the sprites into Godot's SpriteFrames system, but I never knew how to code the animation in so that I could actually press left and play the animation before the player could actually move to the opposite direction.

So now, what if, instead of working on the code RIGHT NOW to make up for it, I do it later instead?

I'm so genius, right guys? Wait a minute... Sunky's weren't the only sprites, there are also the other ones, which introduces the question:

Part 5: Stylize or Stay?

So, I've been wondering, are the original sprites enough for now?

Look at the spikes in the OG.

Aren't they detailed enough?

How can I possibly revise these other sprites to an extent of making it look polished? The best I can do out of these three is the Bug. I can at least remove the highly realistic fire on its back.

I've provided a poll at the bottom for YOU guys to help me decide. Anyways, onto the last chapter.

Part 6: I've realized all of our last chapters have only had a goodbye message, so I've decided to do something a little bit different.
