it’s been a month since the last update so hello!!! a lot of progress has happened between then and now. so i’m gonna talk about it a bit. wowie.
i’m just about finished with the games third major area. much like the other “finished” areas, some necessary polishing and tweaks will be needed before i can actually call it actually done, but it’s pretty much there for the most part. i will say right now that a lot of the areas have literally no connection at all to playtime with percy. i’m focusing on the areas being more silly and creative then actually making sense and coinciding with something in the original game. the only area that makes sense is the playhouse, which is almost completely the same. besides that, entirely unique areas!
another important thing that’s happened is that i now have playtesters for the game!! so far reception has been positive, and they’ve definitely helped me iron out a few bugs, unintended quirks, and balancing issues. many thanks to those playtesting the game!
i’ll also take some time to talk about party members for a brief moment. 4 party members are currently planned, with 1 implemented already. much like paper mario, only 1 party member can be out in the overworld and in battles alongside pal percy. that’s because each member has their own unique overworld ability. for example, one of the recruitable members is able to bridge gaps that otherwise couldn’t be reached before. this addition should hopefully allow for players to think more creatively while traversing areas, and make level design a whole lot more interesting.
