The recent FNaF drama...

EDIT:

After seeing Kane's response (which I implore you to do the same), I now consider this post very outdated and obsolete. I am unsure as to whether or not I will make a follow up post, but note that most of the statements here are no longer what I think.

I was thinking of talking about 'The Pear' fiasco, but I ended up not doing so, because everyone else said the exact same thing I've been wanting to say (only better), and the situation now has... Pretty much died out.

So let's tallk about the latest FNaF drama instead.

Hello everyone, my name is Philip Buchanon from Nyctodream Creations, today we are gonna be discussing the latest drama that has happened in the fnaf community... I swear, ever since the Scott donations debacle, there's always more of these.

I - Whu hapen tho?

Sooo, what happened today? Well, based on my understanding, indie horror game content creator, 'Theft King' made videos on the fanverse potentially dying (it wasn't) with a clickbait thumbnail. Granted he may have said good things about the fanverse many times, but due to the way the video was presented, it made him look like a fearmonger. Then, a while later, another YouTube user 'Sheeprampage' also made a video regarding the fanverse with a similar presentation in terms of title and thumbnail (I haven't seen the video myself, so I won't comment on its contents), after that, Kane then made a small meme where the fanverse is still doing decent, yet many people still keep saying it is 100% doomed. Then, I don't know if it was before or after the meme was made, but Theft King (I will just call him Theft) recieved online harrasment and death threats. Getting upset by that, he made a video talking to Kane specifically about the meme he made and showed a compilation of all the good and positive things he said regarding the fanverse, Kane in turn, made an apology video and added a rickroll in the end, after that, it ended. Well, for a little bit anyway. But then one day later, we something INSANE happened.

II - That escalated fast.

Theft King made a 4-5 hour livestream late at night (for him and his fellow Americans anyway, it was like, afternoon for me here in Asia), and from what I heard anyway, pretty much went on a breakdown regarding the whole Kane thing, even went as far as to make a statement that was GOLDEN somewhere at the end of his stream and ended it abruptly shortly there after. About what he said... You are better off looking at it on Kane's twitter and seeing the clip on his replies, trust me, it's better than reading me type it out. After that, both Kane and Phil Morg mocked Theft a little (well Kane mocked him a little, Phil mostly just said what's been going on and gave his opinions). Kane by changing his profile picture to what Theft just said, and Phil by... Read the parentheses. Soooo, yea, like the title of this part, that escalated quickly. Theft then privated the stream shortly after. I wish I could've been on Stream to see what else was happening, but while I was on Stream, the parts I saw just bored me, and I can't even type there because it was 'subscribers only' and, even though admittedly I was a fan of Theft King... I didn't really subscribe to him. So, yea. Five minutes later I just left.

III - Thoughts on Theft

Okay, so it may be obvious now but, do I think Theft was right or wrong for this? Well, yea no... He wasn't right for doing most of the stuff he did, especially that livestream and especially what he said on the end. In my opinion, he should've just moved on to doing whatever after he made that compilation video towards Kane, because holy shit, him being in his 30s (which shocked btw I thought he was my age), and acting that way towards someone who is in his mid 20s, is embarassing and immature. Especially wishing him to go to hell, you know, the place where eternal fire reigns supreme for people who have committed the worst of all sins, because he gave you a rickroll at the end of his apology and a bunch of people harassed you for it even though Kane had mostly nothing to do with it? Now I should stress this, I do not think Theft is irredeemable for this. While I was typing this, I found out Theft had made a public apology on his Twitter account, and in my opinion, it was a servicable apology, and I do think he can improve. That being said... Theft, if you are reading this, I do not really think you are a fear monger for making that fanverse video, but I do think it was poorly presented with the thumbnail and title, no, I do not think you making that livestream and saying the things you said for nearly a quarter of a day was anywhere near a good idea. However, I don't think you are the worst person in the world for that, and you can always improve yourself. Just, when you tell others that you are not what they think you are and they don't respond the way you would've liked, the last thing you should do is make a vent/anger fit on stream as it just makes you look horrible and it just feeds the trolls. Now, that being said... Theft isn't the only person I have criticisms against.

IV - My criticisms towards Kane.

Well, they aren't criticismS, but more so just 'criticism'. Like, just one. I don't think Kane 100% handled the situation professionally. Now, I am in NO way saying Kane is a bad person here, but I don't think his 'Rickroll apology' was the right way to handle how Theft King reacted. Saying you're sorry and then making a cop out at the end. As funny as it is, I really do not think it was good. I know it sucks hearing that you are part of a major project only for it to be massively bashed by other people saying it's doomed despite the fact it was about as "doomed" as it was back when Scott first announced it, but in my opinion, I think a better way was by typing...

"Hello Theft King, while I do not condone the actions of those who sent you harassment or death threats, my tweet was not directed towards you specifically. Yes, I am aware that you have said good things about the fanverse numerous times, but that does not change the fact you and other people said things regarding the fanverse 'failing' which are simply false. I am not sorry for making that tweet, please move on.

~Kane Carter"

Or better yet, say nothing. Sometimes the best response, is no response. The only good thing we would've lost were the good POPGOES fire fanarts, and the meme potential at the end of his strea- Okay, okay, I'll stop.

V - In Conclusion...

So, yea. Theft, you acted like you were someone half your age whose had too much pamerping lately, but I still think you can improve upon yourself. Kane, you are by no means a bad person, but the way you responded, while admittedly it spawned a gold meme, wasn't necessary or professional in the slightest. And for any of you are planning to attack or harass either Theft King or Kane Carter or even both for that matter... Don't. Attacking and harassing others is almost NEVER a good thing, and if you are the type of person that enjoys doing that, you are a shitty excuse of a human being.

That's all from me for now, next time I plan on making another list on a certain FNaF fan game series again. Please take care everyone, do not make unprofessional apologies (unless it's VERY clear that someone just wants you to be a pushover), do not make an extreme hate vent stream for 4-5 hours, do not attack or harass anybody, and I will see you all whenever.
