This article is just the patch notes for what all's in the game at the moment. This is to make it easier for me to do change logs, since i don't have to look back through already old versions, and i can maintain the changelog as i add stuff from here on.


Grimoire Arena 0.2.3 Public alpha patch notes

This article is just the patch notes for what all's in the game at the moment. This is to make it easier for me to do change logs, since i don't have to look back through already old versions, and i can maintain the changelog as i add stuff from here on.

Throughout the process of pre-alpha development up to and including 0.2.3, the following list of features were developed:

3 game scenes

-Wizard quarters: This is essentially your main menu, and respite between matches to focus on deck building or getting into another match.

Future features that you'd interact with here would include card crafting, managing private messages, customizing your character's looks, and more.

-Temple grounds: Large, bright, and wide open, Temple grounds is one of the maps you'll play matches in. Perhaps best suited for free-for-all deathmatches.

-Wizard tower: Also wide open, but with some sections of "indoors" areas. Softly glazed by the moon's light, the night's menagerie can be seen up above, twinkling away.

14 Spells

-Fireball: Projectile that deals 55 damage on hit, and fizzles the fireball. When channeled, any contact with solid objects that don't fizzle it causes an AOE that deals 20 damage.

-Ice Spike: Projectile that deals 30 damage on hit. When channeled, deals 50 and has a faster projectile speed.

-Shield: Blocks projectiles for up to 75 damage before disappearing

-Lightning clap: A burst area-effect that deals 45 damage

-Font of Health: Heals the caster for 3 health every 2 seconds (if channeled: 5 every half second) for 20 seconds, or until the font takes 90 damage

-Summon Wisps: slowly approaches the nearest enemy and deals 5 damage every half second. 30 health, some projectiles pass-through. lasts 20 seconds (35 if channeled)

-Summon llama: It's a rainbow llama with 500 health.

-Meditate: Instant cast does nothing. Channel for 5 seconds to get 5 mana per second for 20 seconds

-Arcane Missile: Moves forward and curves towards the nearest enemy target to deal 10 damage (30 if channeled)

-Haste: Increase the caster's movement speed by 1.5 times (2.5 if channeled) for 20 seconds. Stacks.

-Aura of Retribution: Grants the caster an aura that deals damage when the aura's caster takes damage. The closer the player that dealt damage, the more damage is returned to them.

-Wall of fire: An area of effect that deals 4 damage (7 if channeled) every half second to those inside. lasts for 5 seconds or 20 if channeled.

-Cube: A test spell that equips a cube that deals 100 damage.

-Crescent hammer: All casts heal for 10. Channeling equips a hammer that deals 33 damage.

Options

-Volume controls with sound categories

-Look inversion per axis

-Look sensitivity per axis

-Unfinished rebinding menu

Multiplayer menu

-Default gamemode of deathmatch, 15 minutes, respawn time of 5 seconds

-Map choice of Temple Grounds and Wizard Tower

-You can set a nickname which will show above you for other players

-You can join through IP to someone else's game provided they have forwarded port 7777

Aaaand that's pretty much it for now! I've been working on this for quite some time, and i fully expect to work on this for quite some time more. With that in mind, I also stream my development of the game live on twitch, and i'm open to any (appropriate) questions you might have about where i plan to go with Grimoire Arena, and i would love to hear what you think! Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
