Tom had a usual childhood. He went out with his family often, did things with his friends, normal kid stuff. But completely out of the blue, when Tom was 9, his parents got a divorce. He had the normal divorced parent lifestyle, living at his Mum's and Dad's house. This kept on going until one day when he was 13, his dad died from lung cancer. He lived with his Mum permanently and loved her with all his heart. Although, through a divorce and a parent dying, his attitude had changed quite a bit, previously being silly and quirky, but now more serious and mature. And then, bam. Lightning struck twice.

When he was 15, his Mum had been shot in a bank robbery and was now in critical condition. What she had always said to him was "Hope and you shall prosper". Tom hoped as long and hard as he could, but to no avail. One cold evening, he was sitting in a chair next to his mother with a nurse in the room and just when he thought she was getting better, she flatlined. Both Tom and the nurse did everything they could. The nurse called a doctor in the hopes they could help. Nope. She was gone for good. After mourning and worrying about his parents for so long, his friends weren't able to reach out to him. He didn't have any money for therapy. He didn't have any advice to follow.

1 year later, when he was just 16, he's out and about, running from people who could possibly get close to him in the fear he would lose them, too. Every now and then he would bump into someone he would start to like, then his old, silly self would show. Then, he would realise and make an excuse to leave, when the real reason was fears of not having them. Never gave anyone any way to contact him. Never gave anyone his adress for visits. When he wasn't interacting with someone he was cut off from society.

Eventually, he decided he's had enough. He had accumulated some junk when he was drifting that he kept with him. Some disk of a Sonic game he had found almost falling down the sewer, thinking he could use it if he had gotten better. A Dr. Robotnik plush he was given to by his father just before he died. And a knife he stole from a restaraunt without anyone noticing, for fighting purposes or if he needed it somehow.

He thought that "Life isn't worth living in these conditions anymore." and stabbed himself through the stomach, and in his final, limping moments, found a place where nobody would find him dying. At least not until he had fully bled out and his body had stopped functioning. Right before he had, his final words were "I'm coming, family." and fully died right after he said it. Little did he know, the two other items he had collected, the game and plush, would define who he was in the "afterlife", making him become an Eggman being infinitely tortured by a blue bloody-eyed bastard.
