Fionna and Cake is very interesting in the sense that we have seen a few tidbits about the multiverse but never actually get to explore it in Adventure Time or Distant Lands. I really like how we get to see the different versions of the characters and actually see how the crown mentally scarred Simon permanently even without it or being Ice King anymore and basically his reluctance to put it back on after what happened to him. It was also really weird seeing the Lich just lose his purpose and accepting defeat, knowing that after killing everyone and serving his purpose he basically gives up.
I’m glad they did this because for most shows and movies you don’t get to actually see what the villain is like after completing their goal, most likely being depressed knowing they aren’t relevant anymore to the plot/story. Two more things I would like to say before I end this:
First, is that it was refreshing seeing Fionna and Cake get the spotlight and that Finn from Ooo only was seen for the a few of the earlier episodes. Second, I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I think the creators of the show knew what they were doing making her so, let’s just say, shaped so “unique” unlike other characters of the show. (Be warned, I’m pretty sure the gif below contains the UK equivalent of the middle finger!)
