Hello everyone! Kasssm speaking, of course.
It's been a while since we've done a proper update, hasn't it? Things have been very busy lately and I've personally been preparing to start college, so we haven't had too much room for development.
However! We've still got stuff to show and things to say (why else would I be making this post?)! Let's get into it!
The Main Fight
Things have been going well! With our new addition to the team, @LeanDot , coding has been at a steady pace and progress is slowly but surely being made.
A critique we've seen with the project is that it seems "too easy", and whilst I can assure you things get more on the road in the later half of phase 1, I still felt it was necessary to make some of the earlier attacks more difficult (though still remaining fair, of course!)
We also have intentions to remake attacks such as the attack showcased at the end of the first half of Phase 1 video, as I personally feel like some things could definitely be better!
Non-Battle Content
I've personally been putting my focus into content outside of the main fight recently, just to make sure it's done and not an after-thought. One of these things is a panel scene unique to belief, taking place in the brother's home!
To add to this, a lot of aspects from Undertale have been re-created, such as the intro and menu, but that's pretty irrelevant and not too important.
(You have trust me when I say these aren't screenshots from the original game I promise)
The overworld engine we plan to use is also almost complete and, thanks to how it is set up and optimised, we're able to have a pretty expansive overworld when it comes to Clickteam (Clickteam is very limited on how much 'game' it can handle, ironically enough)!
Our plan is to remake New Home in its entirety, putting our own spin on it and making it worth traversing through again. Who knows? Maybe you'll be able to find a handful of secrets this time around...
Gamejolt API Support
A very minor thing, but upon opening the game you'll be able to sign in to your Gamejolt account, which will allow you to earn achievements from the game on your profile! Isn't that neat?
We may be integrating cloud data saves as well, but that's not a guaranteed feature. This would mean you'd be able to have your progress anywhere via logging into your account, but we don't know if it's too worth the hassle, is all!
Conclusion
A very niche devlog overall!
We apologise for not showing anything major or new, but we're really deep into spoiler territory and anything we show can be considered major, really. I don't want all of our cool ideas to be put on display as soon as we come up with them, as, whilst it's great for the time-being, it makes their appearance in the actual game have less oomph to them.
I don't doubt that these update posts will slow down as we come to the end of the year and into 2024, as by then we'll hopefully be coming close to an end! Don't quote me on that, though. Please...
