UNDERTALE Pixel Perfect v0.0.4 Devlog 3


Hello again, and welcome back to another update.

In my previous devlog, I mentioned some updates to previous sprites... 

Well, I'm proud to finally show off the tileset changes! Plus some other sneak peeks. 

First, a revamped... ruins1? Ruins - Leaf Pile? (Please tell me in the comments what I should call rooms...) Main changes include the less garbage vine texture (though only slightly), less garbage brick texture (now less cluttered), and less garbage save point sprite! It even spins now, though of course, you can't see that in the screenshot.

And up next, there's the new cave texture used in the first two rooms of the game, as well as two other secret rooms. It still needs some improvement, since I made it very recently, but I wanted to put it in this devlog and I wanted to put this devlog out as soon as possible. (I had to change it because the original was basically a recolored version of a part of the Dark Ruins tileset from Undertale Yellow... I'd rather have it look worse than be plagiarized.)

Hopefully you don't feel like I'm trying to redo things that are 'already finished', because I really do feel like they needed improvement and that I've improved them, at least somewhat.

Speaking of finishing things, how long until the update is finished?! 
Well, the answer is... hopefully before Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 come out! I'm gonna be hyperfixating over those, as will the entire UT/DR community, so the mod will get pushed to the side if I'm still working on it. That means a LONG delay, which I'd like to avoid if possible.

 

I can't promise any dates- I'm one person, not a company, and I unfortunately cannot mold my schedule around working on a free UNDERTALE mod. That means no deadlines, and no release date.

I can, once again, give a progress report though. 

1 F. Paths room remaining! (Not overall, just of the ones I planned for this update.) I'll probably show it when it's done, since it's an idea I've had for a while. 

3 F. Paths rooms are still in need of polish. 

Just 1 regular Ruins room still needs to be revamped! As a reminder, Toriel's house will still be blocked off in this update. A couple of other Ruins rooms also need some extra work, but are mostly finished.

3 monster sprites are still in need of polish, and alternate sprite variations. (hurt, low HP, etc.) 

There are also a couple of older sprites I want to revamp, such as the intro sequence and Toriel battle sprites.

In addition to all that, I have a list of other changes I'd like to make, which is growing more and more by the day.

After v0.0.4 releases, I'll probably take a break for a while to play Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 (assuming they come out in the next couple months from now), and ideally start making smaller updates to fix bugs and finish up the Ruins.
