First of all, before we start, where have we been this whole time?
Well, let's be fair. After the release of the demo, our passion and will to continue had decreased a ton. That and our personal life caused the team to crumble, and many team members left, each because of their justifiable reasons. Because of that, pepsicat- the owner of UT:TFR and manager of Team FR needed to take some time for himself to figure how to solve that crisis, and at the end, we resolved it by opening applications for new people. Right now, the situation is quite stable, but if some of you still have hopes of getting into the team, do not worry, we've got'cha covered!
New engines, new us!
A new and improved overworld engine was developed by pepsicat and past team member AleAtorio, to match our expectations for the future of Final Run!
And, we've switched to an edited and reworked version of Mcatr's engine, also remade by AleAtorio!
Basically, those changes mean that the next time you'll play UT:TFR, the game will feel a lot more smoother and there are less gaps for bugs to slip from our eyes!
And of course, you've probably noticed:
We have new sprites!
@SkyeBlu , @Destroyer120 , @apricoskaart and @Kuri_Tm are all new spriters who joined our team recently, and they all have been so far a great asset to TFR. Those amazing battle spriters are made by Sky and Kuri, the new areas of the overworld are made by Destroyer120, and our new thumbnail, banner and logo are all made by Apricoska! (@Danhx , the creator of the Ost video which we will talk about soon is also responsible for making those background for the battles! shutout to him too!)
(Toriel, the fallen queen.)
(Flowey, the flower, your best friend.)
(Papyrus, the newest addition to the royal guards)
(And of course, our beautiful pixeled frisk, as always.)
So, as you can see, the game has gone a long way since you've last seen an update.
But wait, what??? Toriel??? Didn't she die in the first minute of the demo?
Well, she did, and we thought it was completely stupid and out of place.
(If you're wondering about how the story leads to this battle, do not worry, we've got it covered already, but we don't want to spoil too much of the plot!
So, this time, you're gonna have to try a little harder to get past the ruins, and of course...
New area: The lost bunker's ruins
Yes, you heard it right folks! Final Run is finally introducing something new to the table, and shuffles all the cards! Instead of just going plain old boring grinding xp in the ruins and facing toriel, we're gonna see if you're up to the challenge of facing a completely new area, inspired by the ruins! For now, you only saw a glimmer of the first room in the preview of the overworld engine, but this area will not be shorter than the normal ruins, and yet a lot more interesting to explore it's history!
Wait, so where's papyrus?
The snowdin forest and Snowdin Town have both been evacuated, so it's going to be a lot more harder for you to level up and find those monsters. But hey, we believe in you, you just have to look at the corners and find them in a places you might not expect!
That means, an Exp grinding system is coming to TFR!
Right now, the overworld engine is nearly completed, so we will update you about the state of it in the next devlog after we let the beta testers to test our exp system to see how it feels!
New soundtracks!
We have also new musicians who recently have joined the team! Please welcome @Benlab and @hant147 !
Benlab made an amazing track to replace the default "enemy approaching!" theme, and we think you will absolutely love it.
Hant is responsible for the battle theme for toriel, which is also, in our humble opinion is amazing.
@Krajoz , our good ol' musician did not rest as well, and made an amazing theme for the ruins area! (This theme will be also soon available to listen to)
So when can you listen to those themes?
"Underground's Final Heroes" by benlab will be released on our official SoundCloud page, shortly after this Devlog will be released, so stay tuned.
Toriel's battle theme, which has yet to be named will be released along with the OST video that @Danhx started working on.
New menu!
We have decided to back down for the overloaded menu of the demo, and tried to keep it simple and clean with 2 slides for the main options and the settings + small extras.
Small but important updates!
The Discord server, Gamejolt, Youtube and Soundcloud pages have all been updated to suit the Remaster of UT:TFR. As I mentioned before, we have finally added a new description, thumbnail, logo, banner and previews! So make sure to check it all out, the description is there for people who don't know what is the lore of Final Run, and basically gives you quite the introduction for the fangame.
End of Devlog
With that, our first ever Devlog of Undertale: The Final run Remastered- chapter 1 has come to an end.
We will try in all our power to not delay the next Devlog as much, but no promises. And that is why we still need your help!
If you want to apply as: coder, overworld spriter, musician or writer, you're welcome to send you application in our Discord server, linked down below! Just read the terms, send your application, and we will review it as soon as we can!
Thank you for reading 'til the end, we'll see you next time!
