Stats are a measure of the kind of person you are mentally, physically, emotionally and psychologically. They influence interactions with others and skills.
STRENGTH (STR): Your physical power. This is based on your current HP, so the less HP you have the weaker you become.
CONFIDENCE (CON): How confident you are. Confidence affects how well you can convince others and how likely they are to take you seriously. It, along with CHARISMA, also influences your leadership abilities in combat.
CHARISMA (CHR): Your overall appeal. This doesn't only reflect looks, it also deals with eloquence and persuasion (SPEECH skill). This stat, alongside CONFIDENCE, reflects leadership abilities in combat.
INTELLIGENCE (INT): How clever you are. This measures your deductive reasoning, memory and logical thinking. This also affects your PROGRAMMING and HACKING skills.
DEXTERITY (DEX): Your overall agility. This is a measure of your physical and manual prowess, balance, reflexes and coordination, and sleight of hand. Useful for LOCKPICKING and PICKPOCKET skills.
STAMINA (STA): Your staying power, affecting things like endurance, resistances and fatigue.
PERCEPTION (PER): Your general awareness. How perceptive you are, detecting hidden clues, finding secret doors or areas, and (along with DEXTERITY) locating and disarming traps.
LUCK (LCK): How lucky you are. This mostly affects random loot in chests or random encounters, such as certain NPCs or rare creatures. In combat, it also affects how likely you are to deal a "critical extra" hit, delivering extra damage.
Skills and many choices rely on stats for their success or failure. As a general rule, the higher a stat is the more likely you'll be successful. Sometimes, these will affect your relationships with other people, including your friends.
