WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
this means we are leaving this community behind, not deleting the channels itself (for archival purposes) but just not being active anymore until gamejolt changes their ways
I and some of the team will still be around on the account(s), but not really active, mostly just to keep watching the situation unfold
What Did Gamejolt Do?
This post by @ChristoffOfficial explains it all
but to summarize, Gamejolt's recent Game jam is in collaboration with a NFT/Metaverse Company, which NFTs are known for being environmentally terrible along with multiple cases of counterfeiting, fraud, plagiarism, and money laundering.
example, is a article made by the Guardian speaking on the $100 Million worth of NFT stolen/scammed out of people
As you see, there comes a lot of concern with fishy businesses, and while Christoff and others tried to explain that, they was met with insults from GJ Official Staff and in chrsitoff's case was even told he was lying, which he wasn't, as he looked into the situation and found out the company they collab with was a NFT/metaverse company
as you see in the post no matter what was said the same response was spread throughout, the site did not listen to user or creator concerns. Instead tried to paint those trying to call their actions as lies and "trying to start drama"
This community, not just CC but Gamejolt was built on a foundation of trust and care, and when that trust is broken, people leave and won't come back. It is clear the staff have currently refused to talk or listen to any side, and instead paint those who try to help as bad people.
If none of us have any voice, then there clearly is no point of staying here, no change will happen
What Happens Now?
This is why no more events, announcements or any sort from staff will happen, this community will stay mostly abandoned
Our operations will move more into discord though! and potentially others in the future ;D
until then, I truly hope the site changes, I loved events like the #GJC1000, but I and the team cannot willingly be part of the platform if this kind of stuff is what they support
