On April 16th, 2002, PBS Kids was hijacked by an unknown person who apparently has been confirmed to be a former staff member of PBS Kids, but got fired on the following confirmed date, April 1st, 1999 because of attempting to air a lost and violent episode of The Berenstain Bears, which was meant to be an April Fools joke, but he was caught attempting it.
The hijacking started when an episode of Dragon Tales was just after ending, and the Dash ident played. But when the voices were in the middle of saying the word "Kids!", the screen froze and kept saying the letter "i" constantly until the screen cut to black.
Text appeared saying the following:
"Well, well, well, look who's here, trying not to cry after they weren't allowed to watch another show because of this shit... Oh dear...
Well, I don't care! You 5 month old think you're actually gonna watch another show here? I'm stopping that. Boo hoo! Cry more all you want. There it is, you're crying so hard that you've bawled your eyes out and now you're telling your parents about this?
And they won't listen to you! Fuck that! Nice try, child. I have your location already, and I'm actually coming for you, and I'm not joking."
The screen cut to black.
It cut to two, red and distorted eyes. Many people say that this is the eyes of either Dash or Dot, but it remains unknown, whether it's Dash or Dot. An extremely pitched down robot voice spoke saying:
"I have your IP address. I will come for you on November 16th, 2007. Are you prepared for the worst nightmare of your life? I sincerely hope so." A loud man's scream played for about a minute, before the screen cut to, and you know what, static.
3 days after the hijacking, the channel came back, and the channel had a message on-screen, stating that they are trying their best to make sure that not a single one of these hijackings will ever happen again, forever.
No hijackings on PBS Kids have happened ever since, but someone else has been confirmed that they are going to do another hijacking on PBS Kids to traumatize more viewers, and the person responsible for the 2002 hijacking hasn't been caught, since he died of cardiac arrest in 2011. About the upcoming hijacking on PBS Kids, it hasn't happened, so we don't have to panic about that.
