What we've been up to


Hi, folks!

We’re glad you’re still with us! :)

Since the last time we talked, we promised better controls, leaderboards, and more! And now you have all that! We’ve added:

  • Mouse aim! Now you can move our little D-88 with the WASD keys and aim/shoot with the mouse!

  • Leaderboards! Now the number of jellyfishes you send to their watery graves is registered on our Game Jolt scoreboard!

  • Enemies that fight back! Now the bigger jellyfish spits deadly smaller jellyfishes (“shrapnel-fish”, as some have called it) against you! Beware!

  • A “How To Play” window! In case you’re still very much confused about it all. It happens.

We’re also very happy to announce that Paul Hack, from Fireside, has included Defender 88! in his GBJam 4 Picks of coolest Game Boy Jame games. Yay! You can read it here.

It's coming, folks!!! Anyone else excited???

Everybody talking about the Super Mario movie and here I am thinking how cool it would be if they made a movie out of THIS game...

Here's what I'm thinking to celebrate the 1K followers milestone... the very first SOCK TOWN prototype!

It's heavily inspired by the Reigns game, but instead of being about being a king... it's about being the director of the "Sock Town" TV show!

For this #DrawABirdDay I decided to make a simple animation as if Greedy Grackle was one of the Socks from Sock Town!

HI! I'm getting close to hitting 1000 FOLLOWERS (woohooo!) and I'm thinking about doing some special things to celebrate this:

- A Fireside where we can play a drawing game together!

- A mini-game using the sock puppets!

What do you think of that?

Sharing the pixel art I did for a personal project I never got to make. The player would control an enchanted chest that had to investigate the disappearance of its wizard master!

What do you think? Would this had looked cool?
