Work on PlanIt to Resume + News

Hi everyone,

Sorry there has been such a long delay on work for PlanIt. Exams are over on Wednesday 18th June and I’ll be able to work fully on the game from then onwards.

I’ve worked on a couple of new (small) features this weekend, which I will show you below.

I’ve worked to try and make a decent day/night cycle. Night time should be more dangerous and darker, but the problem I found was that day time just doesn’t seem bright enough. Shaders are not available in GM8.1 (apparently due to a DirectX issue), but I think I’ve come up with a decent compromise using additive blending. This allows day time to look generally more sunny and bright, so the contrast between day and night time will be more apparent. This effect can be seen below:

Before the new “daytime” effect, everything seemed too dark.**

Just another (new) screenshot:The second thing I’ve been working on is trying to add a slight element of panic / urgency to the game. I’ve created a flying “drone” of some kind, which hunts the player down with a searchlight. If the player is spotted, the searchlight turns red and the player must run away. Currently, actually being spotted has no effect, but it will probably alert enemies to your presence, or make them attack your base. Not 100% final yet… Here is a “drone” screenshot:** I hope this post got you interested. Remember to follow the game, as this update is in progress, but not yet playable. Tell me what you think and please leave suggestions (if you have any) below. Thanks for your interest.
