I actually had this idea some weeks ago, but since I was struggling a little with Dead Drift's design, I didn't want to distract from it. Now that the project is... well... no longer adrift... I think I can share with you folks this idea to see whether you'd think this would be fun or not.
(And before I start: let me say that the image I posted is just an example of what the project would look like on a daily basis. To make it I used Jerom's 16x16 Fantasy Set, available on Open Game Art. I'm still not sure if for this project I'd create a tileset from scratch, or wait until some "runs" for that... we'll see...)
What is this idea, you're asking? (or not... let's pretend you are...)
I'm calling it a "Poll Game."
Basically, it would go like this:
I would start sharing a small map, probably centered on a small settlement or something of the sort. Around this settlement, there would be a few geographical features, places of interest, possible threats to the settlement, etc.
Everyone playing would play as members of the settlement's Council. People could join and leave at any time.
For every post, I would write a brief description of what's happening on the map, and post a poll regarding what the people of the settlement should do.
For example, on the image I hastily drew as an example for this post, some Goblins have appeared in the Southeast. The poll could offer a few options, such as
"Send the Warrior to battle them";
"Send the Wood Elf to investigate them";
"Do nothing."
The most voted option would be the decided course of action, and in my next post, I would show an updated version of the map, narrating the effect of the decision ("a few days have passed...") and also starting another poll!
It's like a collective strategy/building RPG thingie... I guess!
OH! And I almost forgot: CHARGED STICKERS are collected over time and can be used to activate SPECIAL OPTIONS! OooooOoooooOooooo
So! What do you folks think? Does this sound interesting to you? Would you like to play something like this? I'd love to know, please leave a comment! :)
Cheers, folks!
