A new rule for the College Football Playoffs has been implemented. It will remain at 12 teams for next season, but all Power 4 conference champions will get an automatic bid into the playoffs, instead of the 4 highest ranked conference champions.
Indiana’s quarterback Fernando Mendoza has won the Heisman Trophy, being named the best player in college football for the 2025-26 season.

Notre Dame has signed a Memorial of Understanding contract, stating that if they are ranked in the top 12 in the final CFP poll next year, no matter the situation, they will get into the playoffs. If it happened this year, Miami would be eliminated.
Notre Dame will be withdrawing their team from playing in a bowl game this season due to missing the playoffs, as they believe they were snubbed.
