I believe that why Kris, Frisk, and Chara are nonbinary is because of who ever is playing male, female, nonbinary, transgender, or anything that you identify as they can be that gender.

In chapter 1, there is a picture of a green turtle. This monster is unknown until Kris walks outside and meets 'father alvin.' I belive that father alvin is NOT the knight, but is helping the knight.
