I think the search function we currently have for finding games is seriously lacking and could be greatly improved. Something on a surface level that seems so basic actually would make a huge difference in terms of the user's experience on this site and I know I'm not the only person here who wishes for more search filters and options.

  1. Remove Endless Scrolling Page or At Least Make It An Option

The thing about endless scrolling pages is that they are a huge resource hog and it makes it worse having that with a very basic search filter. I like a lot of older games on this site however in order for me to find what I am looking for, I would have to scroll through 50+ pages worth of game titles and because the endless scroll feature doesn't unload the pages I went through it just slows the whole system down making it a chore just to load yet another page on top of that. If you won't remove it outright then at least have an option in the settings for me to disable endless scrolling pages much like what Steam has and instead let me click through numbered pages that have a fixed amount of games on each page.

  2. Old Game Filter

We already have a filter for having the newest games on top of the search results, yet for some reason we don't have a similar filter for listing older games on top, which shouldn't be too hard to add in.

  3. Block / Hide Games

Whether a game is poorly made or just doesn't interest you but also shares the same genre tags as the game you really want to find, making your search more tedious. I'm sure we all wished we could just Block / Hide a game and completely remove from the search results entirely. Now I know we recently got a block feature added, however that's strictly for blocking people's comments and interactions with you. I want a similar feature but for blocking individual games. Now I'm sure that wanting to block individual games might be asking for too much, so the next best thing would be to block games made by a specific user.

being able to block games made by specific developers would be effective as well since there has been so many times where I come across users who only make bad games and a lot of them, to the point where it feels like they are just spamming the storefront page with nothing but garbage that I'm never going to play. But of course if there ever is a time where the game gets a big update that makes it worth playing or the developer has improved their skills over time and are actually making good games, it would be nice to be able to unblock them as well.

  4. More Complex Tagging System - ( Multiple Tags )

Right now we have the simple ability to separate games based on genres like Action / Adventure / Horror / Multiplayer / RPG and so on... But here's the problem, you can only select one Tag or Genre when searching for a game. Games are very complex and obviously can have multiple tags to describe it, like a game can be a Horror Adventure with RPG elements as well as having both singleplayer and multiplayer modes and saying I can only apply one tag to find the game I'm looking for kinda silly in my opinion.

To give an example from personal experience on this site, I once was trying to find a horror game that I knew was on Game Jolt so I went to the horror genre and I couldn't find it. Well that's because despite it being a horror game it had shooting elements in it, so I had to go to the shooter genre to find it. It would be really nice to be able to go into the filter and click multiple checkmarks for a game, so that i could search for a game that was both a Horror / Shooter game to make my search results even more accurate and hassle free. Also why end there, if you do make a more complex tagging system might as well add new tags to more accurately describe and find the game you're looking for.

This is just some features that came to mind, so if anyone else reading this has other great ideas to add on top of what I listed here, then feel free to comment below.
