I mean, just look at profiles like 1_a8ccd0, and 1_c4f0c6. These seem to be accounts created with Facebook. What's with the name, though?

Also, another thing is that I've noticed that some followers on my games who have just followed literally joined Game Jolt in the past couple of days. Are these bots? I don't really know, to be honest.

Does anyone know why these things happen? :P

This mostly comes forth when you use Facebook or Twitter to create an account.
I too think Game Jolt should force you to enter a name (like most communities do), since it's often pretty confusing to find out who is who, not to mention they make spamming a lot easier.

I'm not sure if this is already fixed up and that the accounts we still see are older accounts still living here from older times, or if this is a longer term fix, but the administration did take it seriously when people complained about this before.

Ummm... well... one of the accounts mentioned was made a week or so ago, so...

Then we may need to mention this to the admins again....
As I said, I didn't know if this was fixed already.

I worked with Parse for a while recently and we had the problem that whenever you created a profile using FB or twitter, if there already existed a user with the same name as you, the backend would silently create a random string to replace your name.

Our app ended up having some users with random nonsense names like the ones above until we took measures :-)
