I am new to game development. I am interested in developing 2D games for the Android platform. What is the best place to start with (i.e) What are the basics and how to proceed? I already have programming experience in Java but don't have any experience with graphics or animation.
I'm so interested to make a game like this one but it's made with HTML so any idea will be a big help and thanks in advance

OK. Construct 2 (https://www.scirra.com/construct2)is easy and fantastic to get started with. You can use Intel XDK to convert the HTML5 exports from Android or any other phone. Here are some of my free templates :

You can find loads more on the Scrirra site.

This tutorial will get you making a 2D car game in 10 minutes. Since you already know programming, you will find it shockingly good.

If you have experience in Java, you could try using LibGDX. But first, you have to download the Anroid SDK (for some it wants you to download the Android Studio IDE, too).

There are also numerous Html5-based Android engines/frameworks, but I don't remember their names. Google might help.

Or you could install Native Dev Kit and write your games in C++ using SDL and OpenGL ES, but I don't recommend that!

There is also Gamemaker : http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker (easy to pick up Drag&Drop + GML). Aldo Corona Labs: https://coronalabs.com/
Simple to set up. (code based-Lua)
