This works for RPG Maker XP, VX and VX Ace. The new MV has a native exporter for Mac and Linux is playable with the HTML5 version. This method is very stable and is used by commercial games e.g. To the Moon.

  1. open the mkxp project page https://github.com/Ancurio/mkxp

  2. scroll down to the Prebuilt binaries header

  3. open the version you need (e.g. Linux) and download the newest file (the dates are shown)

  4. uncompress and add the files to the main directory of the windows build of your game

  5. point GJ to the new binaries for the specific platform

  6. done :-)

mkxp has some quirks if you used winapi or wmv/wma files, but that usually isn't an issue. Read the whole info on the project page if you want to know.

Similar project for RPG Maker 2000 and 2003: https://easyrpg.org/player/ (I didn't test this much but it will probably work in the same way as above)
