Neo-Cab - the story-driven survival game that takes place inside a taxi - comes to Nintendo Switch and PC this summer.
This week's Nindies Spring Showcase announced the hottest indie titles coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2019. While Cuphead, Stranger Things: The Game and a new rhythm-based Zelda title are sure to grab the headlines, one game in particular stood out to me.

Neo Cab - Announcement Trailer - Nintendo Switch
Neo-Cab is, at the moment, classed as a survival game. But it's clear the game is driven by its story. You play as Lina Romero, one of the sole human taxi-for-hires left in a futuristic world where autonomous cars rule the roads. The player must make a living while creating relationships with passengers, maintaining a good driver rating and keeping their emotions in check.

Neo-Cab's cel shaded art style and adaptive story feel reminiscent of titles by the now bankrupt Telltale Games. But the real sense of familiarity comes from the real world: Neo-Cab is clearly influenced by the current gig economy: prominence of companies like Uber, the satisfaction of their drivers and the company's ultimate aim to get self-driving cars on the streets. While the core story asks the player to solve a noir mystery, Neo-Cab is set up to explore interesting themes around tech disruption in the gig economy.
Neo-Cab is coming to Switch and PC in the summer of this year.
