Anyone else getting pumped for this game?

I wasn't sure about it when i first saw it last year at e3, but it did seem quite unique. But just in the last little while it's grown on me more, and im getting more and more excited for it.

Me and my daughter tried it out on the weekend during the global testfire, and after we finally got connected it was a blast to play. we've already pre-purchased it and its downloaded and ready to go as soon as the game officially launches.

My daughters been going on and on about it, telling all her friends, pretending shes an inkling. we even bought some water guns the other night and played splatoon in the back yard even though it was cold and rainy here lol.

I've never really been a fan of shooters much, duke nukem was cool back in the day, and goldeneye still can't be beat. halo was ok, and i though gears of war was pretty neat too, also played some rainbow six on n64 too that was cool having to work more strategically instead of just run and gun it. but to be honest i'm sick of all the war simulation/training/brainwashing games that come out every other day.

i really believe that splatoon can do to shooters what mario kart did to racers.

I'll buy Splatoon once I get rid of those "Unable to connect to partner's device" errors that occur when I try to play Mario Kart or Smash Bros. (or any other online game) on my Wii U.

jani i've honestly never had that problem. did it give you any kind of error codes? could possibly be a network issue, or a slim chance that your wireless access point is incompatible. i know i used to have problems on the original wii and it turned out that changing my wifi security mode and setting helped a lot.

splatoon looks to have a pretty cool single player mode too, and theres also going to be challenges and stuff to unlock.

It's a NAT related issue. Port forwarding doesn't work. The only way to fix this is change the internet provider (or maybe buy a new router, but I'm not sure would it work).

NAT would be in your router then and shouldn't have anything to do with your isp, if it is your isp then your isp has some major issues. have you tried firmware updates or factory reset on your router? also is it your router or your isp's router?

Splatoon looks great to me. I played it for the first global testfire and had a blast. Not sure if I'll buy it immediately though. I trust Nintendo to follow up on their promises of by weekly updates, but I still want to wait a bit.

http://www.gamnesia.com/news/splatoon-gets-a-single-player-trailer#.VWeHdUZ0r_k

theres a new single player campaign trailer out.

also according to the splatoon nintendo direct theres supposed to be lots of online events and stuff, and they are also going to be releasing new and more advanced levels as time goes so people have a chance to get used to the game first.

and the nice thing about amiibo integration is that it actually unlocks new challenges and levels so it makes it feel more worthwhile to me. i'm not sure if we'll get the three pack or instead get a single squid amiibo yet though.

*bump

this game is so much fun! i never thought i would get into it this much, but i've been playing it non stop like crazy since it game out. they already have released some new levels and weapons, including the N-ZAP '85, which if you can't guess, looks just like the good ol duck hunt gun. its pretty sweet too.

they also have ranked battles now, and instead of just having to ink the whole level, there are one or more splat zones you need to keep control over, and when you have control your timer counts down. get your timer to zero and you knockout the other team. i can't believe how intense some of the battles can get. i've managed to get my rank up to a c+ so far, but some of the people are just insanely good.

if you haven't played this game yet you should definitely check it out. i think all best buys should have the demo, and other places that have wii u demo units should have it too. but seriously go buy this game it rocks so much.

Splatoon looks hella fun. I've always wanted to be a squid and kid so there's that. The list of games piling up for the Wii U and lower prices are probably going to mean a purchase soon.

Some people say that Splatoon doesn't have enough content yet, claiming the game is not worth of the full price (yet). Is that true? Should I wait until Nintendo releases more free content?

I like it so far, and I eat less chocolate since playing it. #best #diet

Content is available enough, and comes later subjectively from switching weapon-sets, testing equipment and trying new play-styles.

... though playing sniper is currently underpowered in ranked battle (and I like playing sniper) - everyone plays too aggressive there, especially in the A ranks (which consists mainly of Japanese people, and they are freakin' good players).

Edit: Jani, most people claiming that, didn't even buy it.

i think the content is just fine, i'm not bored of it yet and i've really only used a handful of weapons so far and haven't finished the single player missions yet either. i think its true that only people looking in with a nintendo-hate bias are saying stuff like that.

if you just look at "well there are x number of stages and the main missions can be beaten in x hours by the best players just running through quickly" then ya it looks bleak.

but so far i find that even though we only have a handful of levels for online, they are still great. they switch up the available levels every 4 hours too so that helps keep it fresh. there's tons of weapon sets to try out, and loads of armor with unlockable abilities, and i haven't even unlocked them all yet.

not to mention in single player there are hidden scrolls to find that give you a glimpse into the lore and history of the game, and unlock weapons, and when you beat it your supposed to get new armor. plus if you get the amiibos you can play through the same levels in a challenge mode and unlock even more stuff.

don't forget that they are still releasing levels, weapons, and also new modes as we go, we already got a handful in the first week, and theres supposed to be plenty to come.

oh and one other thing is the splatfests coming up. its like a weekend event where you pick a side to battle for (like cats vs dogs) and then whatever side has the most points/wins at the end everyone wins stuff.

Cool game~

I might buy it once I move to my new apartment next month (which means I'll get a new internet connection and router, so hopefully no more NAT issues!).
