I thought that the best way to review this would be to just recount what I thought at the time, so that's what I'll do.
Solving riddles in the game files? renPy? Where have I heard this one before, I'm skeptical. I launch the game and am greeted with a text box telling me to definitely NOT delete a certain file in the game folder. By now my eyes are rolling so hard that I can see the back of my own skull.
Not to give out solutions, the first few puzzles are pretty decent, albeit a bit easy, the later ones get better though, one of them even had me writing a program to batch out a bunch of different ciphers. Simply stacking the ciphers isn't so fun though, it just becomes a process of trial and error rather than actually recognizing anything.
Using an exe file for one of the puzzles was a very bad move. I examined the exe file to find that it's actually an executable, and then did some basic analysis to see what it's doing. Network access? Writing files in my appdata? Yeah, I'm not running that shit, despite most AVs not flagging it. I reverse-engineered the game to find the flag instead.
Overall, pretty decent. Oh and also, do some damn proof-reading, nothing makes it harder to take something seriously than trivial spelling and grammar errors.
good game
This is the first game I made. It is a CTF game where you solve riddles in the game files. There are 6 riddles in the game. It is a dark and sometimes scary game. I hope that you can enjoy my game. #horror #puzzle #textadventure #other
