This FREE ROAM FNAF Game Needs an Exorcism

Movie Night(s) at Freddy’s is the newest FNAF free-roam fan game inspired by the first FNAF movie, and while its ambition is clear, the execution is rough. The environments and animatronic designs show genuine passion and stay faithful to the source material, which is easily the game’s strongest point.

However, the game is weighed down by major issues. The AI-generated Scott Cawthon voice during the phone call feels awkward and unnecessary, especially when a real voice could have added authenticity. Technical problems are constant, including heavy lag, sluggish camera movement, and poor optimization that persists regardless of graphic settings. The gameplay borrows heavily from other horror games like the peaking and battery pick up sound effects from Outlast and even the detection feature ripped from Far Cry 5, making it feel generic rather than uniquely FNAF.

Objectives are unclear, controls are confusing, and mechanics like the flashlight and power system lack proper feedback. There’s only one night, which limits replay value, and aside from surviving, there isn’t much to do. While moments like being chased by Spring Bonnie when the power goes out and all of the animatronics coming after you as the night passes by are intense and fun, the game over animation is so cool and such an awesome throw back from the movie but they aren’t enough to carry the experience.

Overall, the game has creativity and potential but feels unfinished. With better optimization, clearer direction, more content, and stronger polish, it could be something special. As it stands, I’d give it a 5/10.
