What is Future Night Funkin’?

Future Night Funkin' (formerly and alternatively, now scrapped, titled as Friday Night Funkin': 10 Years Later) is a Korean music webcomic series based on Friday Night Funkin', created by the Funkin' Crew. Created, directed and owned by TimeoutArtist since August 12th, 2021, the original release of the concept is unknown, due to the said concept now being a lost media, however, on July 16th, 2023, a redesign of the original concept was made and the full concept was released on August 25th, 2023.

Future Night Funkin’ started out as a simple AU, created out of inspiration from base-game-inspired remix mods (FNF: D-Sides and FNF: B-Sides for example), but after TimeoutArtist became inspired by a few Friday Night Funkin’ mods that he saw on the Internet, he wanted to try out game development, as some type of attempted experiment, but because Jen received engine problems, Timeout turned the project into a Vs. Sonic.EXE: Rerun UST-inspired music video series and webcomic series.

As the title suggests, Future Night Funkin’ takes place in the future, modern era or during one of the sequel timelines, featuring Future variants of pre-existing characters from the original source material and the Modding Community, possessing their individual designs, personality, lore, trivia and everything that matches the said theme, along with characters who are exclusive to Future Night Funkin’; these Future Night Funkin’ exclusive characters are said to be Future variants, acting as basic replacements of the original pre-existing characters, taking the role of a successor to their predecessors, while most of the exclusive characters don’t take the role of a successor to their predecessors but instead, act out as an independent character, yet they’re related to another character.

Premise

The player primarily takes on the role of Grace, a half-demon half-human who wants to follow her father’s footsteps of becoming the next music star and taking over his role in continuing his legacy, while being with her accomplice and best friend, Fumiko Fukushima. However, a mysterious somebody viciously wants her gone because if she’s part of the Dearest Family, alongside the rest like Girlfriend by extension, then they’re supposed to follow the Dearest Family Traditions, but because they have no idea about the said traditions, not knowing that they existed long ago and lived without learning them in the first place, while only one family member knew the Dearest Family Tradition this whole time, but he refused to follow the traditions or teach the family members about them, all for a personal reason, they’re considered to be “a weak family member” by this mysterious somebody, because he believes that “a family member following the traditions is considered “a strong family member”” and for that, they must be gone; the mysterious somebody sent his hired mercenaries or his brainwashed minions to kill him. Meanwhile, Grace is on a journey of wanting to pursue her dream, as a world-famous music star, but the “mysterious somebody’s” hired guns, brainwashed victims or themselves are blocking her way and to pursue her dream out of succession, she must challenge them into a sing-off. Even if Grace succeeds, it won’t be the last time she’ll hear from her previous challengers, because, certainly, there will be more who’ll stand in her way.
