Feel free to ask any questions about the game!
One Year Earlier is a standalone indie horror game that primarily focuses on narrative and atmosphere, created on the Unity Engine. The game strives to return indie horror to its roots with a chilling story and sense of dread and foreboding throughout the campaign.
You play as Henry, an investigative reporter who receives information about mysterious occurrences at an abandoned mining establishment situated within a national park. As Henry, you must uncover the mystery of the area and survive the night, by collecting files, audio tapes and maintaining power for your flashlight.
Q&A:
Q: When will the game be released?
A: As of now, majority of the key features are in and a demo is in the works for playing with, but the fact stands that the full game is not released until I am happy with the finished product. So, no release date as of now.
Q: What are some of the features of the game?
A: Players will be able to collect files and audio tapes, and collect batteries to power their flashlight. You will also use different strategies to overcome different paranormal creatures. A co-op mode may be introduced in the future, but this is not confirmed as of now.
Q: How is this different from any other indie horror?
A: One Year Earlier focuses more on story and atmosphere than slamming jumpscares into your face every five seconds. The idea is to return Unity horror games to their simplistic roots without becoming too basic. Also, keep in mind that this is my first game I've ever worked on, so it will be rough in some places, but I will work to provide the kind of experience I'm setting out to achieve.
Q: How can I help?
A: I'm open to people contributing to the project, whether it be voice acting or coding especially. I'll need to see some previous work, but otherwise, just PM me if you're interested!
