精没憑~Limitless Torpor is a bullet-hell-esque combat-oriented platformer set within the Touhou universe.
This game is incredibly early in development, as such expect many things to change, and many aspects to seem unfinished.
I was inspired to work on this game after playing Urapani, which is a Touhou fangame that I would ask for you to check out as well! Some of the choices in developing this game are due to having played that game.
This game is thus far completely created by me, but I'm using the fighter sprites from Hisoutensoku as placeholders, but I do plan to eventually replace them.
The characters have a small circular hitbox in the general center of the character, which is the only place you can be damaged. To remain more true to form, there is a flight mechanic -- though there are limitations on its usage. To allow for quick movement, there is a dash mechanic however it does not allow you graze like the Touhou fighting games -- mainly as nearly every attack is projectile-based. Each character has a total of 8 skills, and different sets of general values which further set them apart.
Controls
The attack control scheme is reminiscent of a certain platform fighter as well as regular Touhou bullet hells. The attack button is defaulted to 'Z' as is Touhou's typical shoot button, and focus is defaulted to left-shift as is Tohou's. Each character has a different set of skills, and different values for their hp, energy meter, and speed. Some skills can be held while others need attack to be inputted again.
Holding focus on the ground will simply display your hitbox, but holding focus while in the air will activate flight mode, where your energy meter is gradually depleted but you have free range of movement, allowing for bullet-hell gameplay that's more true to form.
Double-tapping a direction will begin a dash in that direction. Dashing also gradually depletes your meter, and you cannot activate any skills while in dash mode. If you jump while dashing, you will continue moving in that direction without control until you land -- or you double-tap the other direction, which will turn you the other way.
On the ground you have 3 attacks:
Holding left or right and pressing attack sets off your side-ground
Holding down and pressing attack sets off your down-ground
Holding no direction and pressing attack sets off your neutral-ground
In the air you have 5 attacks, and forward and back depends on the direction you were facing when you jumped -- the character will retain their orientation so it will be easy to tell which direction is the attack you want:
Holding forward and pressing attack sets off your forward-air
Holding back and pressing attack sets off your back-air
Holding up and pressing attack sets off your up-air
Holding down and pressing attack sets off your down-air
Holding no direction and pressing attack sets off your neutral-air
Story
Currently the storyline is still very barebones, but will become more developed as time goes on, so major changes are still possible. The current basis comes from the residents of Gensokyo being gradually drained of their strength, putting them all in an exhausted, lazy state. Only the 4 main playable characters -- Marisa, Alice, Patchouli, and Nitori -- understand the reality behind what's putting everyone in a funk, and set out to find the cause. Though, perhaps this event could lead to unexpected side-effects?
