The Backrooms: an endless maze of decaying yellow walls, moldy rough carpet, and humming tubes of fluorescent light. Rumors and urban legends say that anyone, at anytime, can find themselves in the backrooms if they're not careful enough. You've heard the myths, and you've never wanted anything to do with it... even though you're a skeptic. But after a long night of drinking followed by a sudden car crash, you find yourself surrounded by the yellow walls you've only heard stories of.

The Backrooms: 2D is a gloriously creepy demake of the infamous Backrooms creepypasta, where your goal is to traverse procedurally generated mazes of the backrooms, all while keeping your sanity and avoiding what may or may not lurk in the unseen corners behind you!

At Random Access Studios, we're a team of two using development tools such as Gamemaker: Studio to build a genuinely creepy experience from the ground up, based on one of our favorite creepypastas. The game is currently in Alpha, but a beta is coming soon- and commenting on this page will get you in to our list of beta testers! As soon as we have further news on the status of the game's beta, we'll let you know. In the meantime, we'll be posting regular development updates to show the game's progress and growth.
