Hey everyone! I have to say, the reaction to the game so far has been incredible. I wasn't expecting much but it's had a much stronger start than any of my other games. Thanks for following!
So, here's a few general questions and answers about this game to set some expectations.
Why make this game?
This game was created as a way for me to learn the Godot game engine. I wanted to stress test the 2D side of the engine and its features to figure out if it's what I want to use for future projects. So far it's been GREAT to use. It also helps to have some experience in a programming language like Python if you're considering using Godot.
What's with the character designs?
The designs being a little exaggerated or "goofy" is a common thing I've seen pointed out. I wanted to try something a little different with these designs vs the type of designs I've used in previous games. These designs match how I think of the game's tone; there's a mix of spookiness and fun throughout.
Why this tone for the game?
I went with this tone because it aligned with some of the game mechanic and character design ideas I had early on. So when designing the game I structured it around that tone and went from there to what you see now.
How big is the game?
Simply put it's bite-sized. The main campaign is a little shorter than a classic FNaF-style game. However, there are plenty of challenge levels to try out after completing the main section. It's not incredibly long but there's still plenty to play.
How far along is the game?
It's close to being finished. Right now I'm working on bonus content and cleaning up the main part of the game. It's already been playtested several times, especially by @SabatronVEVO and @Pigsty55
. They've been very generous to spend their time thoroughly playing the game.
Just for fun, here's an update of the announcement teaser using final character models. There isn't much different visually, but now it's consistent with all other teaser content.
