Finally, nearly after 9 months since the code reset, the first R3 release: the 2.0 is here! Exactly one year after 1.0.
There is a lot to cover, so I recommend to read this announcement before playing.
Note: the R3 versions break backwards savedata compatibility. R2 scores cannot (for now) be imported to or used in R3 or viceversa.
**Gameplay:**
* The speed increase curve is much more forgiving; in r2 at a score of 200, Marieta was nearly uncontrollable; while at r3, 1000 points are still pretty controllable.
* Value flowers (those flowers with a number) have been replaced by superflowers.
* Superflowers cannot retain their value for much long. Wait a few seconds, for it's value to start descending; if it reaches 0, it will transform into an Evil Flower.
* Evil Flowers dash towards Marieta when it comes close, in an attempt to push you out-of-bounds.
* Spikeballs now appear with a more visual-appealing animation. When spawning, they will fade in, and blink for some seconds to warn you for their presence. When dispawning, they will blink a couple more times and fade out.
* Inline Skates are back! Now with a more "pro"-looking sprite and all of it's flaws fixed. Increase your speed and gain protection against spikeballs.
* New item: the stop boots. Hop into them to stop for a while. (...) And yes, that's it.
* New item: the bubbleshield. Head inside one of those bubbles to protect you against spikeballs, but be careful because the bubble pops really easy!
* When playing, a star will appear near the score display to indicate if you've made a new record.
* Now the score display will increase it's value slowly and the flower icon will bounce to visually indicate that the score is raising.
* The old solid background green color is now green grass. It might be hard to notice at first glance, but it makes the background less empty.
**There's finally sound!**
Sound effects for the menus, background rural noises when playing and other effects when touching flowers or interacting with items.
Thanks to these sounds, the game feels even more alive!
**Handover Multiplayer**
The Singleplayer mode is still here, but we have a new addition, a multiplayer mode.
For up to 4 players and play in a single computer playing by turns and then comparing everyone's score.
There's still a lot more to add, but it's pretty playable, even if that means that in case of a tie the conclusion might be a bit unfair...
This mode has a maximum of 12 players, but for now it's limited to 4 for performance reasons. I will unlock more players in a future update.
**Menus:**
* All the menus have been recreated with a much more visual approach. The icons are more important than the text, this allows for identifying the options faster and better fitting the minimalistic approach of the game.
* Some options are unavailable and they are grey-out and unselectable.
* Move the cursor in the menus using WASD, accept with E, and go back with Q; mouse support is implemented in some menus.
**Options:**
* You can enable or disable the blur effects that have some UI elements.
* The Top Menu backgrounds (Marieta moving like crazy or the flowers falling in the top menu) can be enabled or disabled.
* You can show an FPS Indicator (now displaying the real FPS instead of random numbers); coming with an advanced version for those wanting more accurate stats.
* You can enable or disable either the rural noises, in-game SFX or the menu cursor sounds in case you don't like them or you prefer silence.
Also, the readme text file now has evolved into a PDF manual, it's still pretty simple but it now has images of the game and the items.
Ok, so I think I described everything that it's in here. It was pretty long so I hope that I did not miss anything.
This update is really big, but there's a lot more planned. I hope to not take that long between updates (remember when I said that R3 will take 2 months instead of the current 9? heh, fun times...)
Remember to rate and like the game if you had a good time playing it.
That's all for me, have a nice day!
