Slender: Insanity version 2.3 is out. This update brings a new level as well as difficulty and gameplay adjustments and other small improvements and bug fixes:
Added the new level 3 to the game
The player's stamina now charges faster when standing still
Increased stamina recharge speed
Adjusted general game difficulty
Tweaked Slenderman behavior: static effect is more dangerous and teleportation is more common, to compensate for better stamina
Fixed a bug with footstep sounds when switching between running and walking
On-screen text duration is now based on the length of the line (used in endings and dialogue)
Slightly decreased the resolution of many textures (props, terrain, buildings, etc) without affecting the visual experience much
Decreased the resolution of many of the original textures in the project files to match the resolution seen in-game. This should make textures in-game slightly more detailed while having the same resolution and performance impact
Disabled anisotropic filtering for terrain textures and a few other props, making them sharp but pixelated (like most textures already are)
Enabled dithering, reducing picture color banding
Fixed static and black/white screen UI elements not filling the whole screen if the game is not at 16:10 aspect ratio
Fixed screen, static and audio fade-in and fade-out functions to be frame-dependant (higher framerate, slower fade).
Project cleanup: >3GB of assets reduced/compressed to 1.6GB. This doesn't affect the game but affects my development
Disabled GPU instancing on many shaders to use the modern SRP batcher. Should decrease CPU usage in-game and speed up build times
Slight performance improvements caused by the various things I changed
Now with 2.3 released, I will take a break from adding big features to the game. I can't promise I will release more levels in the very near future but I do plan on adding them eventually this year. Right now my priority is to polish the game a bit more.
