It’s a new day in the city. You’re walking through one of the main streets in the central quarter when you notice a faint gleam coming from the lighthouse, but why is it pointing towards the city? You check your watch, your next appointment is right after lunch, so you have a couple of free hours. Maybe it’d be a good idea to go and check the old lighthouse.

You follow the promenade and arrive to the poor quarter. There you find it, the old building. Connected to the land by only a thin lane. There’s a note on the door signed by somebody called Saul.

(the first row are some early development designs)
You’ve heard of him before, people say it’s one those men you’d better avoid. He’s known for drinking a lot, maybe because he likes to party, maybe because something from the past still chases him. Truth is nobody knows him well.
The note on the door says: “I’m at the port tavern, give me a shout if anything stops working”. The door is open, perhaps the old man was too eager to get a beer to remember to lock it. You decide taking a look at the place won’t hurt anybody.

On the other side of the door you find a collection of completely unrelated trinkets, probably collected through all his years operating the lighthouse. You’ve always wondered how one of these buildings would look from inside, now that you’ve officially become a trespasser, you take the stairs to explore the upper floors.

At the very end of it there’s a simple room. Empty but for the two chairs that watch the sea in silence. It’s in that very moment that you start thinking about how lonely he must feel living here, isolated from everything else, keeping the lights on.
Then again, Saul is probably enjoying a nice mug of beer at the moment. You head to the tavern to remind the old man that somebody should be watching the lighthouse.
That’s all for today’s update, hope you enjoyed it! Remember to join our Discord server to hang around with us and talk about “A Place for the Unwilling” (or about anything else that comes to your mind).
Until next time!
