The Beta Release:
Howdy folks! It is 2am for me and I’m sat here deciding to write something at last. It has been 7 months since the last update post due to the fact I ‘got busy’ and I mean one part of my life was getting married and well yeah that of course took priority. I am writing now anyway to let you all know that we have a ‘beta’ version that we are happy to send out.
So getting straight to it, If you choose to take a look at Base Defense you’ll be met with a fairly simple concept. You have a choice of 3 towers to place anywhere you want on the map. You must prevent the ‘enemies’ from completing their path and hitting the HQ. I feel like this map is plenty big enough to give you enough space to spread out and survive.
I will say that one main thing about building a tower defense that has been ‘tough’ to accomplish is the balancing of the maths/formula.. It’s not just some quirky “3n+Fun = Rainbow Farts” because I think that might actually be fun.. So I am hoping that the games overall progression should be ‘good enough’ as it is. We do plan on more testing — this is a beta for a reason — and try to make it really feel smooth. I don’t want Wave 4 to have enemies die in one hit and Wave 5 have super quick speedster tanks with 60,000 HP so there is that.
We will be looking for feedback, a lot of it where possible! Whilst we work to improve this game. As it stands the majority of assets used are free assets published and owned by “Kenney” and we would most certainly like to look at producing our own artwork and making newly designed towers that may one day bring an impactful change to the tower defense genre. Who knows? ;)
Anyway, I really hope you’ll enjoy what we’ve made so far and I look forward to long nights of bug hunting and update making that we soon shall face!
