Hey, been quite a >good< while eh? I'll cut straight to the chase, I don't really have any idea how to start this haha
--------/---/-------- "What happened to the sequel?"
You see, at first I unlisted the sequel & wrote down a small comment in the first game's description notifying that the game had been unlisted until further development's been made and, well, that was the general idea that I had going in my mind for a while but...
Then one day I pondered and thought about the game in general and, I realized I announced the sequel without my heart and brain being aligned with each other, and truth to be told is that I announced the sequel out of sheer impulsive emotions caused by the overwhelming support beyond my expectations the first game has received, and in the long term it did damage the sequel's development flow.
--------/---/--------
The truth is that my interests are long gone and distinct from Minecraft and the Mob Girls in general, I still enjoy playing the former from time to time obviously, but I just do not find myself engaged in creating more and more about the girls as much as I did in the past. Heck, sometimes I caught myself spending hours speaking to myself about how a certain chapter should be about, what could each mob do in each chapter, and etc, but it's a time long gone now.
A lot has happened ever since the first game's been finished, won't lie that a good portion are not really great memories, but I won't go off the rails about that, I wanted to add upon the "interests are long gone and distinct" bit, but all these factors contributed to me indirectly distancing myself from the game & just losing overall interest in the sequel (forgive me Wolfy and this weak memory of mine to fail in keeping a consistent "reply schedule" with you LOL)
--------/---/--------
"Does that mean you'll be cancelling the sequel?"
I have a personal policy that prevents me from cancelling projects of mine, I just want to try my best in making people happy and enjoy something silly and simple that I did, even if for a few moments. But I figured that, for this case in particular, I probably might have to break this policy for my own good, however, I'll be breaking it slightly, and only time will tell what will happen:
With that being said, I decided that Science's Failure 2 will be put in a indefinite hiatus, put in the backburner. I do have the general story idea in my mind, character growth ideas, character design changes, a few retcons etc, so as much as I'm not invested in this world, I really don't want to let these ideas go wasted, I believe they have somewhat of a potential.
Another factor too is that, if I ever come back to this game, I'll take the liberty of possibly using different game genres to tell the story, since the game engine I've used for the first game ain't really the sharpest anymore around haha, and being quite honest, >currently< I do not have the time to learn a new visual novel engine.

Closing thoughts
Make no mistake, I'll always hold this game dearly close to my heart, this was literally my kickstart to pursue the game development career, and I won't ever forget the amazing feedback and videos that sprouted from it, I genuinely cannot explain how you all matter a TON to me, but at the same time I'm deeply sorry that this is the answer you all got after years from waiting. You know, the game probably would've been done a good while ago if I had interest in this world I built, but unfortunately (and fortunately to some extend), life happened! Is what I like to say.
So! For you who came this far, thank you so much for taking your time, and again, apologies that this is the answer you had to hear, but hey, despite not being Minecraft or Mob Girls related at all, there is a bunch of projects I worked/ am working on right now! You can check em all out in my profile, and give it a support!
--------/---/--------
Just so this doesn't end on a blank note, If any of you have questions regarding Science's Failure, you can ask me below! No time limit, just whenever you feel like, leave a question in the comments section & I'll be answering as soon as I can! I know devlogs engagement hasn't been the strongest of this game, but no matter about that. I won't be answering anything regarding the second game since I still have no idea if it will actually happen or not, but I'll at least give a small hint depending on the question.
If Science's Failure 2 ever come to be a thing, I thought about doing it as a surprise release. Work in the game offline, and once everything is ready, I'd release it all at once. Buuuuut, we'll have to see what the future holds for the girls.
That should be all. Thank you for taking your time to read this, and well, I hope we meet again sometime!
