Lonely Egg Studio’s 2018 Adventures Recap
Hi! This is Lonely Egg co-founder Jessica Fong!
We moved into full production on “In the Keeper’s Shadow” in December 2018! We were fortunate to participate in a number of wonderful opportunities in 2018 and wish to share them with you. Hopefully we’ll see you at events this new year!

Co-founder Mark and I were invited as returning judges for UC Santa Cruz’s Sammy Showcase. We are blown away every year by the amount of work and push for strong messages and narratives.

2. FRINGE FUND
I applied for Evva Kraikul’s and Stephanie Hurlburt’s Power Play Fringe Fund earlier this year and was accepted alongside entrepreneur Jonathan Morales! They offered mentorship and an all expense paid trip to Pax Dev in Seattle.
“The Fringe Fund is two friends, Stephanie Hurlburt and Evva Kraikul, combining their powers and cash to help another human out. We’re looking for early stage makers, movers and shakers. People who are headed down the path of business ownership. If you’ve already started a business, great. If you’re on the verge of something incredible, even better.” (Power Play)
My time at Pax Dev was magical. I met new and old friends and listened to a number of talks on art, animation, and concepts of ethical randomization in games. Seattle devs showed us around the city and we visited several local studios and eateries.
Jonathan and I had the opportunity to try the Magic Leap! If you have the chance to try it, I highly recommend! We traversed an interactive soundscape and painted the world around us. I am so grateful for the opportunity from the Fringe Fund and I hope to make it up to Seattle again in the near future!
3. SACANIME
(Left to right. Artist Chelsea Harper, Me, Co founder Mark Biundo, and Level Designer Andrew Miller)
I sold at Sacanime’s artist alley, showcasing work from “In the Keeper’s Shadow” and connecting with attendees who were touched by the purpose and origin of the game. A letter of support directed at the team from an attendee was a major highlight for us. Our artist Chelsea Harper, aka Etherelle, was also there selling her own work in the artist alley. We all gathered after a day of hard work to eat Ramen together.
4. Kraken Con
Mark and I attended and spoke at Kraken Con as panelists. Our talk was called: “Your Story Matters! Game Development Gets Personal.” We discussed the current development of “In the Keeper’s Shadow” and how the team tackles creating narrative elements from real life experiences.
I met up with family visiting the con and admired the detail and work of cosplayers. I rarely get to visit cons as just an attendee, so Mark and I spent the rest of the time enjoying the events, art displays, and board games (I learned to play Machi Koro!)
We have more amazing news to share with you soon, so look out for future announcements!
